Just wondering which of the two yall prefer. Both buggy's are very popular at my track and parts are plentiful. I'm a new racer, so a durable easy to drive car is more appealing.

I would say you can't go wrong with either. If possibile, could you take a couple of guys rides around the track a time or 2? Set-ups vary, but maybe it could give you a idea of what you want. If they are the same to you, the Jammin is a bit cheaper.......
Jammin $529

Here is the WC edition$639, can't find the SP2

How about a new Mugen? $599 Lots of guys on here like them too

Or the Hyper 8 $414, not many on here have them, but seem to be priced right

Xray XB8R $349, its not the newest from them, but a solid buggy GREAT price

But its a toss up between the K and a Jammin.
Just tring to give you options.....

Any information is great. Either one will be an upgrade from what I have now. I bought a roller off Ebay and kind of peiced it together. Auctually its not a bad car and looks very similar to the K 7.5. I have used a lot of the K parts from my LHS to fix it.

The Mugen seems to be priced right as well. I'm sure the other buggies are great, but Ofna, Mugen, Losi and Kyosho are used the most around here and the lhs stocks their parts.

What is the diffenrence in the MBX5 and the MBX5R other than $250.00?

You can't go wrong with neither of them. They are top-class buggy and very competitive at pro-level. I own a Jammin X1-CR Pro buggy myself and I am very happy with it and I have taken it through hell.

I would suggest that you with the jammin.

Hope this helps.

BIG! It has new geometry all around, its a different buggy

Would you say its worth it? I talked to a guy the other day at the track who loves his R. I has used all the top runners, K, Jammin, etc and says it is the best he has driven.
Like I said, its between these two. I'm sort of leaning towards the Jammin, just because a lot of sponsored drivers at my track run the jammin and they can give me a lot of tech support.

Here's my two cents since everyone I run with runs a majority of the big three. Kyosho is still a great buggy though it needs a couple things, #1 being the shocks. The kyosho shocks suck and the only ones that will tell they won't are Kyosho sponsored guys that are not allowed to run anything but Kyosho parts. Also the wood screws on the Kyosho leave alot to be desired. I know a couple guys that had Kyosho sponsorships and when they ran different shocks it made a totally different buggy. Kyosho is now going to be coming out with a new big bore shock if that tells ya anything. The Jammin still a good performer as well but most guys I know that ran Jammin either bailed for the Losi or the Mugen. The CR handles great and parts are pretty readily available for it though what I hated about Jammin was if you needed one little part or something you had to buy a whole damn tree of stuff you didn't need. The Mugen MBX5R is my current ride and I love the thing. It's awesome in rough, and just in general it handles great. Replacement parts are reasonably priced and between them and Losi, those are the two buggies of choice around here. The Lusi is great indoors but setting up the throttle servo is an issue. If you don't do it right, you better carry a spare. It doesn't seem to handle the rough stuff as well as the mugen but it still drives nice. The losi though takes a special driver and if you try to push it too hard, it gets a little out of whack. I know several guys that have run both and those that drive semi aggressive or very hard the Losi didn't treat them well, drive it nice and it will be nice to you. I found the Xray to be the same way. It's very hard to top Xray quality, fit and finish. The buggy drives nice but if you push it too hard it pushes back. I drive pretty aggressive and I just couldn't ever be fast with it. My first time running my Mugen I was better by a lap and prolly 20+ seconds than I was on the same track with my Xray. HTH

Thanks Jet. That's the info I'm talking about. That is good stuff. I have heard a lot about the 5R and that its a heck of a ride.

Here is my situation. I know both of these guys personally and know the buggies are in decent shape. They both have about a season on them.
One guy at the track has a 777 SP2 with a lot of parts and a starter box for $400.00
Another has a Jammin with lots of spare parts and he would take $300.00

Or, I have found a new Jammin FTE on Ebay for $400.00 with a few spare parts. It is already built but has never been ran. My only concern is that that it could have been built poorly. Should that concern me? Also, Could it be an RTR that he made into the FTE?
I just don't want to get burned.

I also found a New in box Jammin FTE for $460.00

Where is the cheapest place to buy the MBX5R? A main has them for $599.00

Well, a build is not a hard thing to fix, just go over it. If it was converted to a FTE, no big deal, as long as it was a total transformation.

I have no problem buying used rides from trusted racers, its a great way to get into a class w/o spending a ton.

The $300 for the Jammin is actually a bit high, depending on what all is with it. These buggys just dont seem to hold a resale value. I had my FTE roller on sale here for $210(but just regular Ofna shocks) and it took forever to sell. I have also see other FTE rollers for around the $200 mark. Spare parts are great, but they are CHEAP for the Jammin. Just double check the outdrives they tend to wear, but mine were fine. I have seen the servo plate crack on these as well, you can double it up or get a alum. piece.(thats what I did)

Is the SP2 stock? Usually as Jet said, they need a few hop-ups to make them what they need to be. Mostly people us King Headz parts, which are not the cheapest, but are of very good quality. As for spares, K stuff used to be a bit spendy, but check around. What box is he including? How worn is the wheel(but they are cheap) and does it include a battery?

As for driving the buggys, it REALLY is subjective. Driving someone else's set up may turn you off to a buggy because he may like it one way, and have it set up for his driving style.Different servos, mills, and clutch set ups can turn you off to a buggy when it could actually be tuned to what you like driving style wise. That is what is so great about these things, they are SOOO tuneable. If your just starting out, you may be "numb" to set up changes anyway until you get the real hang of racing. Heck,I'M still numb to a lot of it!!!

Here is a bit of a cheaper price, but they are out of stock too. Both AMain and Carolina have codes to save $$$

MBX5R were supposed to make it to the states around April 2, and then prolly another week or two to get to distibutors and what not. Hell I know a guy that made the team and he doesn't even have one! LOL
