I'd like to know if the batteries will actually last up to 3 years.. That's quite a long time for batteries to last

I'll see if I can find a few links for ya, but I've seen several posts on other sites where people have had them in a drawer for 90days, up to nearly a year and a half and they have only lost 5-10% of their charge.

I'm getting a set of 16 eneloops myself. I'll use them in my LED flashlights, tv remotes, etc.

Nah. I have one in my car that is work out pretty bad. Main purpose is for pulling license plates. but 12 hours a day on the road, you never know what your going to use it for.
