Hey Everyone Whatsup? Well I'm in a confusion state, I am interested in a RTR 1/8 scale racing buggy. I dont have a job b/c I'm to young so I can't go for a Mugen MBX5 no matter how much I want it:bandit: , So I'm thinking of going for a Ofna Hyper 7 PCR Edition , Ofna Violater, GS storm avenger, or any other buggy. Leave some of your comments here about buggys and what do you think i should get. I have had previous experience with nitro so I do know how to tune and keep the matienence of a nitro vehicle up. Also leave some links of cool buggys , and kits also, My maximum limit is between 500.00-600.00 for a kit or a buggy to be rtr.... Meaning that if i got a kit 600.00 would be all I could spend on the engine, radio gear , etc. Thank you for you time. Later:cool:

with $600 i would not suggest getting an ofna. those are for people that (ultra line) want the cheapest possible combo therefore the radio gear is really cheap. the higher end ofnas (hyper line) are good cars, but have the same radio gear!

other than ofna, the only cars you could get are the following:

hb lightning rr
hb lightning pro
prp swift
storm rtr
x-ray rtr
avenger
kyosho rtr
xtm something

if i am missing some dont yell at me.

eliminate the kyosho and the storm. the storm is being discontinued. the kyosho is lower quality. the x-ray is not out yet and may be quite expensive. not sure if the avenger is out yet.

ill let some prp swift guys talk about that one... but it is definitely a consideration.

the xtm is more basher oriented than racing.

the hb lightning rr had quite a few problems and had bad radio equipment.

the lighting pro is the only "kit" in the crowd, when actually it is fully assembled, you just need the radio and the servos. it comes with as good a rtr enigne as any, which is fine.

for $600 I would suggest a lighting pro $290 and then some good radio gear to go with it.

Just to clairify, the Storm RTR is not being discontinued & the Storm Pro is being discontinued. Replacing the Storm Pro, is the new Storm Avenger MK II. To my knowlage the new Storm Avenger will be priced about the same as the Storm Pro was $450.00 range. Hope this helps...

Will you still be able to get storm pro parts from everywhere you think? Hope the prices don't go up too much..

Good question, I'll check into that! Even though I don't believe thats going to be a problem.

Just to be clear, why is the HB Lightning Pro so much better than the RR? There are not that many differences. At least that I can see.

I'm liking the new Storm avenger... Or the Hyper 7 PCR. Keep posting guys, ur doing great, Thanks -Colton

The storm avenger looks to be a great rc but don't let the fact that you'll be the first kid on your block with one be the determining factor in buying one. Very possibly it could have a bug or two to be worked out when it's released as happens with most RC's.

True dat

I Called my LHS and The Mugen MBX5 sounds really awsome. Its on sale for 470.00 I heard at my LHS. I'm looking into that. Heres a list of what I would want with a kit if I could get any, Check it out! Mugen MBX5 - RB Concepts Ws7.2 - OFNA 063 tuned pipe "bottom end" - JR XS3 w/ Metal Gear Servos approx. 95 lbs torque - Grand total est. -950.00 > ouch! Wouldnt that be cool to have? Laterz! :redbuggy:

if this is your first car, then i would reccomend the 600bux limit. there are alot of cool suplies that you can get that will be for all rc's, and once you have all that stuff then you can start getting an expensive kit.

Nah I've had more Nitro R/c , This is my first Buggy, I've raced Nitro monster trucks and Nitro Stadium Trucks. Thanks tho, I Want the MBX5 so i can have a race truck. But I'm prolly gonna get the Ofna Hyper 7 PCR Edition and then put better radio gear on it. "JR XR2"

Well, first thing.. this guy is lookin into all the high end stuff.. you could get into this alot cheaper than what he is thinkin.. 950.. dang..

MBX5 for 470, then you can get a OS RG motor.. not the best.. but plenty of motor for a new guy on the block.. then upgrade later.. for likee= 125 then you can get a JR XR2 radio.. which comes with the same servos in it.. for 100 bux... tops.. that adds up to 700.. and everything you need.. except fuel.. and ignitor.. batteries..

add the 086, or 063 pipe.. got you at round 750
