I just picked-up the K-Factory directional hub kit and threaded hinge pin kit for my ST-R. Has anybody else tried their stuff?

I spun a wheel nut and destroyed a brand new wheel so the directional hubs was a no-brainer when I found them.

I never have liked e-clips, so I decided to try out the threaded pins.

The pins came in today and look to be high quality. I will install them as soon as I get my S3 off my bench.

From what I hear the threaded hingepins is the best upgrade. No E-Clips. I am getting some hopefully soon for my SP-1. Post some before and after shots of the set up. Sure it will be pretty sweet.

Different stuff, but threaded hinge pins are the best! Had them on the MSR Prospec and my Jammin CRT Pro has them. Hey Rob, you running the Hot Bodies gears?

I have all the stock gearing.

I also have the threaded hingepins and quad brake center diff mounts in my MBX5. Unfortunately the 2nd rear brake disk rubs against my servo wires so I could only use one disk front and rear. Bad design IMO. The mount is aluminum though so it did help a bit with flex from the stock mounts.

The other thing I thought was odd was that it came packaged as Racer's Edge. Printed instructions said K-Factory. Is Racer's Edge the main distributor of K-Factory? I know Werks Racing does something similar for Collari and Fioroni.

I believe K-Factory's stuff is sold/distrubuted here in the US by Racers Edge. The hubs I got came from dinball so it didn't have the Racers Edge sticker. The pins came from A-Main and it did.

There's a lot of stuff made over in that area that is all made by the same place and packaged however you want. You can actually get ahold of them, tell em what you want and package it as SweetDiesel Broke Back Special. I have a friend that is a dealer for a few of them (3 Racing, RD Logics and such) and he was telling me about it.

Oops jumped the gun. Have you had any problems with you gears? Couple guys I know with the ST-R are running the HB gears cause they were blowing the stock Kyosho stuff. Also at the ROAR Nats in Vegas they had Kyosho engineers there tearing down the difs after every run and looking them over and taking measurments and stuff.

Racers Edges doesn't even bother getting special packaging. They just slap a sticker over K-Factory's name.

I have about a gallon through it and have not had any problems with the gears so far. I also have them shimmed so there is no play at all in the diffs themselves as well as all the outdrives. I will tear it down for cleaning and take a look when the weather gets too crappy to run anymore around here.

Yeah, the spiders are good, it's the ring gears (the helical cut ones). I know one guy was shimming them constantly. If you need though, the Hot Bodies work and are about half the price. Didn't mean to derail this one.
