I drove 1 1/12 hours for it, which is typical; usually nothing is ever local. Anyway, the owner never really had it running. I cleaned out the tank, and what I found odd was at the lowest part right at the outlet, I kept picking at something that was disintegrated and come to find out it's a piece of metal. I don't know what that is, but I think I need a new tank. By the way what is that spring loaded shaft? some kind of rollover blockoff?
Anyway, I go to start it and of course it won't. So I took off what was left of the air filter (NOTHING), and the thing had swallowed the media. I want to take it out to clean it, but I can't access the nut because my 1/4 drive socket interferes with it. I can turn it down on the lathe if I need to next week. I'd kinda rather buy the right socket.

Welcome to RCT.. do you have a pair of neddle noise pliers. It really shouldn't be that tight

If you take the two screws holding that exhaust manifold off, you should have easy access to the nut holding the carb in. While your at it, pick up a regular header, those stock exhaust manifolds are not good at all. You should be able to find one fairly cheap.

Thanks guys. I had a 4way I completely forgot about and it actually fit in there. I took it apart and cleaned everything. So now I need to figure out the retuning process for this. The tank is putting a divet in the chassis from the sump, but the HPI website shows it's the right one. I'm looking on ebay and having a hard time finding a tank and air filter. is this what we're using now? https://www.ebay.com/itm/274615433312?hash=item3ff05af860:g:V6gAAOSwzD1f2pI5
or this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/203477986630?hash=item2f603bad46:g:qNsAAOSwZphhhjhU
NCNitro good to see you're not far. Just found the manifold isn't even fully tight as I was typing this.

so I'm using this page https://www.hpiracing.com/en/parts/10055/std#product_group_4 for what I think I have. This LOOKS exactly like what I have.
I want to run the proper fuel and glow plug. This page does not list what I should be using for fuel, NOR the glow plug temp. It has a OS A3 plug in it and this is 'N3'. Sounds like the same thing just a different manufacturer. https://www.ebay.com/itm/393226701329?hash=item5b8e234a11:g:BV4AAOSwLqVgYveE
The fuel I have is Traxxas Top Fuel 20%.
Also found a fuel tank here: https://mindrc.com/products/hpi87021

There's nothing by me. There used to be a huge track in avon park, but that went away years ago. That's why I started building a track in my yard. I really need to get a couple dump truck loads of clay brought in, it's all sand here where I am. When I run my on road, I found a nice big parking lot they keep sealed nicely, and they don't mind when we run there.

The lanes are about 10' wide, it's actually much larger than it looks in pics. But like I said, I would love to have a couple of truckloads of clay brought in, but I'd be looking at like $500 bucks in clay.
But yeah, plenty of room to expand if I want to. I live on 10 acres in the country.

I've actually started work on a shooting range, gotta build a berm. Been clearing an area for that, but I got tractor issues at the moment.
