Hello everyone! just added my collection with a used savage 4.6 ss. Right after cleaning up and taking it all apart, I'm kinda disappointed about the screws were used on this savage. I hate using philip screws! I currently own a revo and I love taking it all apart because of the hex screws were used. Is there a kit i can buy to use hex screws? And also one more question, the savage came with a different main chassis. It's not the same as the stock one but it's printed 7075 T6 on it. Is that good.

Also i will be asking for more question as I rebuild this monster.

Thanks Racer 1966! So what does stock material uses? Also i noticed that my current model is discontinued and replaced with savage x ss. What does the X offer. Am I screwed when it comes to parts availability?

Here's one:

RcScrews makes some too, but they are soft and prone to stripping.

so i guess all the screws that i will need are there. Thanks for the link.

The "X" plates give you a lower center of gravity and will fit just fine. The material they are made of is a cheaper grade of aluminum that can be easily stamped out with a die.

I inspected the chassis plate and it seems like it was machined from CNC. Seems High quality to me.

So that's all the difference between the x and earlier models. So sorry for asking stupid question. But believe me i will learn very quick with this savage. I had no idea too when i got my revo and now I know all about the revo in and out.

The 7075 will be machined. There were a few more upgrades on the X from earlier versions. The battery box is more easily accessible,17mm hubs, the cross pin in the bulks that the plates bolt to are hex instead of round so it won't spin when taking the screws out, alloy diff cups and probably some others I am forgetting.

EDIT: There you go,Olds has it covered.

thanks alot guys for the quick link. I have some reading to do. Will have more question when I get confuse. LOL!
