On Friday, July 16th, I got my new Droid X. This phone is amazing and the phone is equipped with an 8.0 MP camera, and it shoots video in 720P HD.. How amazing? here are some random pics i took today:

Not too shabby. The wife and I are going to get a pair of X's next week. I cannot wait to have a new phone.

It's great that we're cramming so much powerful camera stuff into phones but I can't wait until somebody put an optical zoom in one. Now that'll be the day.

NICE! i have a company blackberry tour right now but i am eligible for an upgrade in october so i might be able to snatch up a droid.

If droid's email features was as good as blackberry's I'd probably try out a droid, but they aren't so I'll stick with my trusty BB Tour.

You will definitely love the X if you get one. The screen is pretty big at 4.3" but you get used to it, and soon you will love it. The phone is just crazy, and I'm just getting used to it now.

I use gmail because thats what you setup at the store on this so luckily I already had a gmail account. I dont know what email you use though.

Yeah being android is made by google, gmail support is awesome. I however use my own email (ie. @RCNitroTalk.com and my personal website) which are POP3 accounts.

Android has apps to checks these types of emails but it's either very slow to preserve battery life or fairly quick and drains the battery very quickly.

Blackberry on the other hand delivers very quickly, basically instantly w/o draining the battery. I charge my Tour about 1-2 a week.

thats great for a battery Mike, 1-2 times a week! I charge mine about once a day a night for like 3-4 hours..Sometimes I can make it about 2 days if I'm light on the phone, but all the apps use a lot of battery. For your purpose though, I would stick with the blackberry. I personally don't like them because of the small screen, and even smaller keys, but i'm 14 so that kills txting. lol

Nitro - I've been a reader of droid-life.com for sometime now so I'm pretty familiar with the Droid X, but I've yet to hear about it's battery life. You mentioned above you charge your phone every day, does that include the new Droid X or previous phones?

other ones I would charge maybe twice a week, and i mean full charge to no charge at all like on my old alias 2 I would go a few day before i needed to charge it. The droid right now has been unplugged from the charger for 7 hrs now and it is still at 80% battery. When u get to around 5% the alarm on it goes off, and you have about 10 seconds to get to a charger before it turns off.
On this Droid X, i can probably make it two days with no charger, i will test it out for you and see how long I can last, then send you a PM or something. Remember, i go through about 200-300 txts a day so I use a lot of battery everyday.

I have an HTC Hero and I can get a day and a half of battery life with average usage and my WiFi turned on. The POP3 mail is about as quick for me as G-Mail. I haven't really played with push yet as I'm getting ready to upgrade my home server soon. Hope this helps, Woodie.

Impressive photo resolution!!! I'm so glad you have a Kawasaki, and NOT a Yamaha, I hate Yamaha. Really. I HATE YAMAHA, AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT!

Do you hear me Alicia Keys, who plays a Yamaha piano?
Take a little advice from Miley Cyrus, Steinway And Sons!

Ooops, sorry........nice phone!
