i need new engines for my old cars. one is hpi nitro mt and the other is losi xxx nt. both need new engines. most likely budget engines. i am looking for something that will run and stay running. before these both would run and die alot. i am looking like the $75 range. any suggestions?

Every now an then ,theres a sales window that pops up on the forum here ,it will be on the top left side of the screen !
It will show some engines at a decent price ,just click on it when you see it pop up!...

Both of those ran small block, rotary carb, side exhaust engines.

"Supercharged" rc nitro engines are a fallacy. Anyone that tells you different is lying. The best thing you can do is buy a good engine and get it ported and polished by someone that does it for a living, but that will cost you more than $75 in itself.

A couple engine mod sites:

I had a xxx-nt back in the day and ran an OS 15 cv-r(x) in it. It did fine and didn't tear up the driveline. I later had a HPI Nitro MT and put an OS 18 cv-r(x) in it. Had more torque than the .15, but was easy to tune and get dialed in like the 15.

It's tough to find engines these days. At least good small blocks that are reasonably priced. 10 years ago, you could find 15 of them from $75-$150 pretty easily. Now, about all you can find are redcat/sh and traxxas engines that size.
