My first upgrade from the stock radio...
I am getting the TX and RX for 50 bucks....
good or bad?

It's a great upgrade from a stock AM system. Lots of features. 4 memories and tons of stuff to tinker with. I have 1 that I run all 3 of my cars with. It's a great system.

how can one radio be for 3 cars?
Do I need to buy like 3 of the same RX crystal?
Also, it still uses ctystals, right? So if someone is on the same channel, I will still need a different set of crystals, and it wont use my am crystals?

Forgive me, radio systems are new to me :)
thanks!

Yes it uses crystals, and you will need 3 Rx's all on the same channel to use it on three cars. I too run a XR3i and love it, great deal for 50 bucks, that what I paid for mine.

Yeah, you'll dig that radio a lot! Good deal on it as well!

Just so you know, you do not have to buy JR RX's for it. You can use Novak FM RX's with it also.

YUP I have had that radio for the last 2 years.....good intermidiate radio

When I buy crystals, do I still need 2, or just one for the RX and then I can tell the TX which one to transmit to?

you will need xtals for both the rx and tx. That is a great rx, just make sure you plug your power into the aux hole to get 6v to your servos.

You can use 1 transmitter crystal and just buy enough matching receiver crystals for whatever receivers you're using. Obviously you can only run one ride at a time so it doesn't matter if they're on the same frequencies. Just set up a memory for each specific ride so you can store all the servo assignments and trims and just swich to the proper memory as you change cars. I have 1 transmitter. 1 transmitter crystal. 3 compatible receivers. And 3 receiver crystals on the same frequency as the transmitter crystal.
Oh, and vb is right. When you hook up the R135, plug your battery into channel 3. It's a BEC receiver. If you plug the battery into the BATT slot, you'll only get 4.8v to the servos. If you plug it into Ch3, you'll get 6.0v.

got it, works great, but, I dont know what half the stuff is in the manual! I set up the EPA's and firgured out a little on what it does, so many features, someone point me in the direction to set up some of the features?

Really? Guess that's why I only got like 5v at the failsafe. But I can just move the on off switch to aux 3 and get 6v?
