Just picked up a used Jato tonight and I have been working on her in the garage a little bit. I bought this so a buddy of mine whos been down on his luck a little would have somthing to run when I take my tmaxx out. so even though I am a newbie I'm trying to learn quick lol. It starts up pretty easy and as long as I hold the rear tires off the ground she runs ok and you can burp the throttle and it revs up just fine. Problem is as soon as I set her down on the ground it's like someone hits the kill switch and she dies everytime. I figured somthing just needs adjusted but being new I don't want to just start turning all the adjustments without having a clue as to which one and how much so any help would be appreciated here. Thanks again!!!!

does it idle on the ground? and do the wheels spin when in the air? if wheels are spinning its the clutch spring has gone. if it idles when on the ground and its when u give it some it dies then its tune. my guess anyway

ps when its off the ground. try grab the rear wheels. both and it it stalls its defo the clutch spring

Yeah if the wheels are spinning when your holding it off the ground you need to replace the clutch shoes and or clutch springs.

Disagree, the clutch spring was busted in my Jato, replaced JUST the spring, truck ran fine.

You dont need to replace the shoes with a spring unless the shoes are SUPER worn out..

Thats why I said "and/or" meaning one or both depending on the circumstances.

Hey guys thanks for the advice. It's so hard to find help as my local Hobby Store will sale me everything I need but they offer no help whatsoever lol. I posted a short video on youtube so you guys can see firsthand what she is doing as I am sure when a newbie like myself tries to describe things it makes no sense at all!!!! The link is below and a big THANKS!!!!!!!

Clutch spring by the looks. Take the motor out. 4 screws at the base of the motor. Make sure u loosen the screw on the exhaust if it stays attached. U may have to disconnect things like fuel lines etc. once out the front of the motor has a clutch bell held on by an e clip. Take that off. Take clutch bell off and inspect bearings And spring and also pads.

Also if that's all fine ur tune might be bad and or u might need to warm it up to operating temp?

I agree with REVO, First thing Id do is reset the needles back to factory settings and see if you still have the same problem. If you do then you have a clutch problem.

If you pull the engine and take the clutch bell off and the spring flies out at you, you need a new spring :D

AWESOME! Thanks for the help guys I better grab the safety glasses lol. I can see it now. Man loses eye in freak remote control car accident..!!!!

lol. just put your had over the clutch bell when you take it off. also make sure its shimmed properly when you put it back on.... eg 0.5mm shim between front bearing and E clip... its so the clutch bell doesn't wobble front to back and distroy the bearings. might be a good idea to have a look at the bearings while your there anyway. if they go it will make your motor run with more load and it will get very hot easy and wont run as quick.

It does this because the clutch shoes/ spring is messed up and catches on the clutch and makes the engine shut off. Take off the clutch and check it out! should Be pretty easy to see what is wrong once it is off :)
Hope this helps!
