So i tried to take a step by step process of doing my 1 speed conversion. Unfortunately its sort of all over the place i didnt get every photo of every process but this is what photos I've taken of the process.

This is where it gets mixed up, i was getting caught up in getting this done i forgot to take more photos.

Basically you take the battery pack off, the shock tower screws, and other screws that hold the rear end on and then the tranny should pull right off.

after taking i believe it was 6 screws out on the case youll be able to just slide the case apart

( note you do have to remove the disk brake in order to get this case apart.)

another few photos missing but you just replace the 2 speed gear with the other gear supplied and be sure to lube the gears up. I know on the case it says dont lubricate but when your putting in new gears you DO NOT want dry gears running at high rpm. Also the manual recommends you use either automotive wheel hub grease ( witch is what i used ) or rc diff grease witch ever you prefer or have at hand.

After youve got it nicely greased, just reassemble the tranny case, install disk brake, install tranny onto car along with the diff. I personally put some more grease on the diff.

Overall i love the 1 speed. for truggy clone jatos like mine and some others that plan on driving on dirt. the 1 speed is really fun and more control able than the 2 speed it seems.

Good luck and have fun !

Okay I see whats going on here, this couldnt be any more of a good time to go 1-speed with the new alloy case, TRX if you do go with that wing mount I would reccomend having a spare case, I hit that jump about 1/2 speed and didnt land that hard on it..

Pretty simple looking procedure & looks fun!

Thanks

No problem, and yeah when i read that your wing broke the case it sort of stalled that idea of getting one. because if its fragile and if you have to add more weight to the rear by getting an alloy case just seems like its going to make the car that much more rear heavy.

I'm actually considering getting aluminum steering assembly, shock tower, and steering knuckles up front and then just going rpm in the rear.. it would look awkward but i just dont like adding any weight to the rear.. just as it is with the battery pack in the rear is making me go crazy. just lately low on funds so right now the truck will have to do.. but surprisingly its suddenly doing pretty well in mid air.. when i posted that thread about my friend thrashing my jato... almost every time he jumped it, the truck leveled pretty nicely and landed on all fours. i was surprised but the suspension seemed to help out alot.

i use permatex ultra slick engine assembly lube item# 81950. been using it a while, i break gears , havent ran one long enough to wear it out.

Who makes an alloy trans case?

Got any photos of the "juggy" in finished form?

I'm not sure the comopany but i saw one once on ebay and i was considering it but i can't find it now................... ohh i found it, its integy but its not on ebay this time http://www.integy.com/st_prod.html?p_prodid=8591&p_catid=91#.Two-2qX2YSU

And the way it looks right now is pretty much finished.. just might get a new body.. i sort of like the roughed up paint and body look.

This is how it sits right now

Its pretty much stock but it functions excellent.

I moved my RX pack to the mid section, there is a RX style box right under the roll bar that fits the stock pack in there. As far as an alloy case, i can only find Integy ones but they will work because its strong and wont ever take an impact. If the rear gets to heavy, alloy & wheel weights up front will help level it out.

I tried those tires on the rear of my jato and it was undrivable. Had to feather the throttle so lightly that I never got anywhere. lol! I bought them with hopes of running them in the winter, larger footprint, less sinking. But even in the summer with the tires warm, it drove like I was on ice. Trying to drive in snow was a waste of time.

What are those tires on the front? They look like they would hook up better in the grass for me than the talons did.

Yeah i think thats going to be my last upgrade is the battery pack up in the middle.. i want better cg

For me they actually work pretty nicely.. my dirt where i live is very soft so they seem to work nicely..my tire combo seems to do real well together the fronts do dig really nicely but i originally had them in the rear but i personally felt like it was to excessive because even on dirt i couldnt keep the fronts down. so i took them off and put them on front and got the talons and everything seems perfect.

The fronts are proline badlands. they are great tires and a soft compound so they offer maximum grip and in the rears literally dig ruts just from touching the gas. i think for me the talons seem to do nicely.i mean i do feather the throttle but either way for me atleast the badlands i was just to squirly.

I mostly run in grass. I have 17mm buggy wheels on mine, badlands on the back and road rage on the front. I run road rage on the rear too when I know I'll be at the skatepark. But those talons just did nothing for me on pavement or grass. Just spun all the time.

yeah on concrete they slip around alot, i recently for the first time drove it wit my tire set up on concrete and i can almost drift it with those tires lol.. its almost like if you had pvc pipe on ha.. but badlands on any terrain are amazing tires its just for my dirt where i am its soo soft and grippy the talons work out. but i mean thats what all these diff style tires are for.. for everyones surroundings so i would try em out.. you wont be dissapointed thats forsure. I wanna get larger wheels and tires for my car later on.. whats like the largest wheel you can get for the jato ? lol one time i almost was going to try to take my savage stock wheels and try to find a way to get those things on but it was just to tough haha.

Sort of diggin these babies http://www.ebay.com/itm/new-duratra...Accessories&hash=item43ac60e7fc#ht_500wt_1202

Ohh man, i hate this every time i look around online i decide I'm not finished with my truck..

Now i found out theres a few diff ways to widen your stance... i want!!!

http://www.fastlanemachine.net/proddetail.php?prod=FLM24900&cat=19 i didnt really wanna go all 4 aluminum arms but i really want a wider stance.

So i decided i really wanted to try to put on my savage x wheels and i went through with it and did it.. but its point of no return lol because the axle pins were just slightly to small for the savage x wheels hub pins i had to bore them out just alittle.. but honestly I'm alittle nervious that I'm going to ruin the axles now lol cuz since the hole is wider its probably gonna weaken the axle but I'm gonna chance it..

JATOmonster005.webp

HAHA what do you think ??
JATOmonster006.webp

i added alittle camber up front its not the wheels being loose.

I think i may take the savages old steering servo because i can hear the servo having alittle trouble turning them lol.. so i mean the savages servo is just sitting in my tool box because i upgrades it to a 250 oz one so i think this should work.

Lol this is a 1 speed conversion thread lol not all about your jato thread :hehe: just raggin ya. That thing looks TINY with those wheels/tires lol!

lol well i dont wanna post a whole new thread cuz i dont know if its worth a whole thread.. but dude its actually pretty bad ass it womps over everything i took it out this morning to play around and its pretty fun..... I had to switch rdaios because since the older TQ doesn't have dual rate i used my mini T remote and sort of cut my turning in half unfortunately but its pretty fun. Just later need to put that servo in. and then i need to locktite the front bolts because those big wheels loosen them lol but i like it now its fun.
