Slow traffic here gang. Here is a photo for consideration and to highly the need for two elements in your crawler setup:
  • Center of Gravity
  • Weight Distribution

Both of these elements are unique to every crawler, but they can all be manipulated in various fashions to achieve the same result. In this photo we have our in-house design crawler call the Antero. It's 1.9 chassis-mounted servo crawler that proven to be quite well suited for technical rock crawling. Crawling down steep lines with an uneven surface will quickly show you setup limitations that are often overlooked by many.

Thanks all.

Here is a video clip showing the Antero crawling a section of 10 Rock Trail. Some of you have seen this, but if you haven't, it may be of interest to you.

I had not watched that. Very cool. What electronics do you have in that? That reverse sounds so cool lol.

It's a Holmes Hobbies Team Spec 2250 outrunner with a Castle sidewinder ESC. The outrunner noise makes me crazy, and Castle ESC's don't have this sorted out in the programming. Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster V3 ESC's run almost silent, and we have been slowly switching out all of our Castle ESC's for Holmes Hobbies units.

The reverse is a funky sound for sure, but I like to hear what the tires are doing on these climbs, and I can't over the outrunner noise. Ugh.

Have you ever tried a Furitek in any of your 1/10 crawlers? I know their 24th scale stuff is the cream of the crop. But I don't think I've seen anybody running their 1/10 scale stuff.

No, I have not. I'm trying to unload my 1/24 Furitek build, and it's not getting any bites. I wonder if they are only known to a small few? I was unaware of them until we built a few of these 1/24's.

They are VERY well known in the 24th scale community. What are you trying to sell? Send me a PM.

Here ya go

Yeah, the other half of MVRCA has a few of the 1/24's in the fleet, but that's about it. Furitek could be the Holmes Hobbies in the 1/24 land and we wouldn't know; they are just not on our radar. My guess is that since Kyle spec'd out their parts for this build, they wouldn't be junk. We try to go top-shelf on everything we build.

Portal Pass at Badrock Ridge is another fun trail. As the name states, you pretty much need portal axles to "pass" this trail. We did knock it off with our Losi worms, but they are absolutely sleeper straight-axle builds under a nondescript Power Wagon body. It wasn't easy, but we got it done.
