Now I'm a bit more confident driving the HBX 16889 I thought I'd raid the junk pile in the garage to make a ramp. Turns out old deck chairs are perfect, with adjustment built in too. A piece of polycarbonate which had been lying around in the garden for years didn't even need cutting to fit.

First (and only) jump landed perfectly but unfortunately broke one of the front stock plastic shocks. In retrospect this was always going to happen, as they're not actually shocks at all (no oil) and the springs are quite soft. I've epoxied it back together just to keep me running until the proper metal oil filled ones arrive from China (should be any day now. They should really come with these fitted as standard, but I guess the money is in the 'upgrades' which is why they sell so cheap.
Talking of cheap, another source of shock oil is sold as 'treadmill oil'. It's pure silicone and usually around 30w. I got 250ml for less than half the price of the small bottles in hobby shops!

my bet on that jump and a 1/16 scale not near a hobby grade rc ic..chassis breaking in half on next nose dive landing..they have that model on amazon with a 16% coupon...I have no need for 30wt so but thanks.best of crashing

The chassis is pretty tough and it's braced but yes, I think it needs another notch lower!
Folks on YouTube have been bashing them really hard with minimal damage. Worst case scenario plenty of spares available
