Hey all, I finally got my Mayhem ST running well and upgraded the servos to 12Kg & 12Kg for the steering! What a difference they made. Anyway I've got the tuning down, temps are good and it seems to run quite well but occasionally when open the throttle fully if chokes but if I let go and open again it goes like it should.

I've tried to lean it a little and also richen it on the high needle but it doesn't fix the problem. Is there something I'm missing here?

thanks

Of it goes good at less than half throttle, but bogs down if you give it more than that...or go wide open...you need to lean out your high speed needle a bit. You should be able to go from a dead stop to wide open and the car should get up and go without bogging all the way to max speed. Tune your high speed needle first...then go back and tune the low speed.

I just re-read and you said it only happens occasionally. Anything in common when it happens? Like low on fuel? Just did a few high speed passes? Idled for a few minutes? Any other conditions?

my revo did that and when i leaned it a tad it screamed like it was overly lean but when i checked the temps it was only 240

it needs to be more like 240... that may be the problem, you are to rich.. also where are you taking the temp at?

I take the temp after several Wot passes and its like 220. if i lean it out it screams but it doesn't reach top speed

you need to temp it down in the glo plug hole. i stick my temp gun on the head and point it down the hole.

although nitro is not all about temp. tune it how it runs good, just temp it to make sure you arent to lean

I have my Revo 3.3 running in the 260 - 270 range at the moment ;-) Still getting the final tune down, but it rips right now....perfect smoke trail....nice jump off the line...piston is still nice and clear as well. That's 260-270 in my grass front yard though....on the track it will probably run a bit cooler since I'm not WFO all the time.

I point it down the hole, turning and adjusting it slightly and go with the highest number. You probably don't get an accurate reading by pointing and clicking one time.

From what I've seen and read, Revo temps can be all over the place. Some say theirs run great at 250. Mine bogs at 250 but is really happy at 270-280 and leaves a decent trail of smoke.

My temps are between 220 and 240 and if I put a drop of water on the head it takes about 3 to 4 seconds to fizzle away. Pinching the fuel line takes 3 seconds to die and revs up but the clutch tries to engage before it dies.

How far should the throttle open? Should it open till the needle is just out or all the way till it can't open anymore?

it should open until the hole is unobstructed by the slide, or rotor. take the linkage off and move it until it stops. then see if thats how far its moving.
