Hello everyone!

I received a 1:10 scale nitro RC car about 5 years ago as a Christmas gift in '06. While trying to set it up the first time, we broke the pull start, and weren't able to fix it. As such, it has been sitting in my closet for all that time until about a week ago when I decided that I was going to try and fix it while on break from school.

I managed to get it fixed and eventually got it running again after hours of watching videos and reading forums and the like.

I have been unable to find out what type of car it is, however, which is going to be a problem when I eventually break something and need to replace or want to make upgrades.

Then I stumbled upon this thread: https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49577 which has what looks to be the same car as mine. One of the links in the thread has a video( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUNBzSX0Tac&feature=player_embedded ) of what looks to be the yellow Ford GT body which I have. Can anyone confirm this?

They're up now.

I see a lot of similarities between the two. Other than an anodized chassis and no battery cover, I think they are the same.

The only thing that looks different to me is that all the electronics on the car are in the plastic case. That and a few minor things but that is to be expected if the car is 5 years old.

One has the plastic chassis and the battery cover. All the other parts appear to be identical, even the foam bumper support.
It also appears to be a 2 speed, and the black one a single speed trans.

Both rigs are identical except what Rolex pointed out and one has a 2speed and the other is single. Nice little modified rig with the ano'd chassis.

If you look closely near the front driveshaft, you can see that the newer one has an aluminum chassis too. Its just the secondary chassis that holds all the electronics and such is plastic. On mine, that secondary chassis is the blue aluminum.

95% of hobby grade or anything higher grade than Radio Shack will have a lower chassis made from aluminum for the durability factor.

Thanks for the confirmation guys, now I know where to get parts, which may be coming in handy as mine seems to have some sort of problem with getting power to the wheels. Gona go outside and see if I can tell where it starts to lose power.

If its cold out I would find the warmest area that you can start her up and see, cold will mess with that tune on her I'm sure.

Actually, it looks like the blue plate is on top creating a sandwich effect. The front of the plate covers some braces that are exposed in the black one.

Its in the mid 50s where I'm at with no cloud in the sky. She started up just fine. I'm waiting til I can figure out the drive train problem before I tune her, as well as finishing off the last few tanks worth of fuel from my current bottle.

Anyways, it looks like the motor is turning everything fine, along with the spur gears, but that power from the spur gears isnt being distributed to the driveshaft. It will sometimes work but then after doing some high G turn it will stop working for a few seconds until I hold the brake down long enough to get the engine back to idle and then it makes a lurch like something catches and then it will work fine again. Any ideas?

Your spurs rotate on one way bearings. When they're dirty or oily, they can slip. A good cleaning with nitro cleaner and compressed air should fix ya up. If not, they'll need replaced.

Do I have to disassemble the transmission to get to them?

No tranny on your ride brother. Should be a top plate that holds the spurs in the carrier. If not, the whole thing will be held in with screws that come up thru the bottom of the chassis.

Mine has 4 screws that connect it to the bottom chassis. Do I have to take out the whole assembly and disassemble everything to clean them? Or can I just spray it while it's off the car but still in one chunk.

Denatured alcohol from the hardware store, or the high alcohol content rubbing alcohol from a drug store.
That should be about 91%. The grocery store will only have 75%
