I have a Hitec HS-5965MG servo for my throttle/brake. While running it yesterday all the sudden I had no brakes! Upon further inspection here's what I found......
When I pull the trigger on my M11 the servo will travel counter clockwise 100% and back to center without any problems for throttle. When I push the trigger forward for brake I get nothing. I removed the servo horn and took the servo out of the radio tray and had it on the table for further testing. I noticed that when I applied the brakes either it wouldn't move at all or sometime it would sputter a little and barely move. It seems like it may be an electrical problem because when it doesn't move there is no buzzing sound. It's just dead. I can tap on the case and it seems to come to life a little.
Next I plugged it into the steering port on my receiver (unplugging my steering servo) to see what would happen when I tried to control it with the steering wheel. This gave better results, If I quickly turned the wheel from 100% left to 100% right and just kept doing it back and forth then it would swing back and forth without a problem. As soon as I tried to go from center and slowly turn it clockwise it's like it would hit spots and just die. The buzzing would stop and there was no response. Tapping on it or turning the wheel left and right quickly seemed to get it to work again.
Since braking only uses about 30% of the clockwise range of motion it seems that is the dead area it lands in. Anyone know what would cause this? Should or can I send it back to Hitec? Sorry for the long post but it was the only way I could explain it!
