ok i recently got a JR XR3 radio and since it can store trims for several models i was going to get a second reciever to go in my savage ss because i have a hi torque servo and a few standards laying around so all i needed was the reciever. I called the LHS and the guy said that he could order me one but a reciever for that radio alone would be about $90-$110. I'm thinking i might as well just get a cheap sport AM radio if I'm gonna spend that much. does anyone have any knowledge of an online store that i could order a JR reciver from? or any ideas about weather this is true or not?
thanks Parker

you shouldnt have any problem finding a 2 or 3 channel for around 40 or 50 bucks.. check Horizon or Tower..

thanks

now my transmitter cystal is technically 75.690 mhz so if i got it channel 75 it should work right? does the reciever cystal have to be exactly 75.690 mhz or will just plain old generic 75 work?

well wait sorry i don't really know a lot about radios because i have never bought a single component i usualy just get a whole system together. but the link you sent me is for a 75 MHz reciever and since my radio is 75.690 i could get any 75 mhz reciever as long as i got channel 69? let me know if that is correct
thanks

I just got a novak reciver for my storm, I have a jrx2 and run the storm and my tc3 on it, the novak was about $39, good reciver, good price. check em out!

When it comes to receivers for RC there are 4 flavors. 27Mhz-AM 27Mhz-FM, 75Mhz-AM and 75Mhz-FM. I have the XS3 as well and the receiver is model RS3000. The cheapest I have seen these is $80 before shipping.

There is a rumor going around that you can use a receiver with a crystal even though the radio is Synth as long as both are in the same flavor as listed above. So, if you have a 75Mhz FM receiver with a 75.690 crystal and you have a 75Mhz FM XS3 then all you should have to do to make it work is to set your radio to channel 75 and your good to go.

But like I said, I have never tried this myself. I dont know if a non synth receiver will work with a Synth radio.

I recently got the JR synth. 75 Mhz. I run it yesterday using the Airtronics single chanel RX in my AE GT. I had no issues during the 2 tanks of fuel I used.

The aria I ran in was protected on both sides with concrete buildings and is difficult to get a cell signal. The reason I mention this is because the transmitted signal from the TX is confined to this aria and there is little possibility of interference.

My belief it that one should always run a matched set TX an RX for maximum reliability and performance. As luck has it, the JR synth RX is on backorder at my LHS. When I asked them if I can use the single channel RX they reluctantly told me to try it but be careful. I will do some range tests next week in an open aria. The only thing that this proves is that the RX I have seems to work OK. Please test yours if you decide to try it. Other setups may not have the same results.
