So i been thinking bout getting an ipad for the past few weeks, and found an iPad 1 (16g wifi) secondhand for $300 local. So the decision i have to make is whether i want to pay $300 for the Gen 1, or if i should just suck it up and pay $500 + Tax for the Gen 2. Let me know asap if you have any experience with either device, or preferably both of them, and if the later is worth the extra money.

do you have any friends or family with and 2nd gen ipad or 4th gen ipod touch if not the camera is pointless just get the gen 1 spend the extra money on the otterbox deffender case its will protect you ipad

I have an iPhone 4 already so no need for FaceTime on the ipad or anything like that.

The iPad2 is supposed to be a bit faster in everything because it's a dual core processor. Other than the camera, there is no real functional difference. Save the bucks and buy the iPad. Then you have some money for more ammo.

I've played around with both, and the iPad 2 is noticeably faster. In addition to the above, it also has double the amount of RAM, roughly 5 times the graphics capability, and HDMI out. I would buy the new one if it were me, as I think the advantages are worth it.

That's true. Could always use some more ammo.

Don't really need hdmi out. Got my pc hooked to tv if I need to see big stuff on Internet. And the screens are the same in both units, so won't see a higher deff picture on the 2

Its weird how they do that its like they hold back on the first models of stuff so they can add "more battery life" to the next models upgrades. Irritating.

Not too worried bout the battery life, ill probably end up getting an aftermarket one off ebay and get double stock life
