Hi folks,

I had a good weekend in many ways for my newfound love of RC by having a Revo-day Saturday and a RC Flying Session Sunday.

Saturday was noteworthy in some ways.
My wife and I went to drive the cars on the huge parkinglot close to my wifes company. Saturdays and Sundays are usually busy for them with the attached shop, but there is pleeenty of room for highspeedruns and certainly for my wifes Mini-T. We have seen many "males" heading towards us during driving, just to be held back by their wives, so they turn and go away.

This Saturday a family with two kids (5 maybe 6 years old and infant on moms arm) headed over to us and started watching our "action". I stopped the Revo in front of them so they could have a look. However, I decided to shut down and talk to them. I ended up answering questions and making great contact with the kiddo which wants to become a NAVI pilot. He put the bodypins in and checked every inch of the Revo out. Finally we let him drive the Mini-T and these people left smiling all over, thanking us many times for taking the time to explain. "This is a great hobby" the wife said, and he mumbled: "We could always buy one and join these guys here on the weekends". None of us knows if we'll see them again, but it's a great sense of accomplishment to spend time with people who show interest. If you give them time to figure their questions out, they will ask. I gave daddy one of my business cards so we can hook up to take the kid flying. One or two more people at least you I could maybe infect with the love of aviation and RC cars. Afterall, a modelcar is a good investment and the BLUE ANGLES are always looking for pilots.

:)

Cool Story!!!! I was able to introduce a young man to my Revo yesterday. I let him drive it....but I was a really nervous. He did end up hitting something, but not too hard. He was bugging the heck out of his future step dad to buy him one. Anyway, great story!

Yeah, Great story! This is a great hobby and I was hooked the very same way. I stopped, asked a bunch of questions, and have been hooked every since. I have met some folks in RC that wouldn't give you the time of day, much less let you drive their rig. Most however are like you and actually take the time to answer questions. I am definitely not an expert on anything RC, but everytime I am at a race, someone will always come up and ask some questions, and I am always willing to answer anything I can, regardless of what I am doing at the time. Here's hoping you got someone else hooked on a great hobby!

Neat deal . I have trouble just keeping my own troops entertained and driving a rig. But I was at the track the other day practicing (man do I need it) and I talked with a guy who stopped and has always wanted to "get back in".

Hope to see him out this year.

Good deal, I know I have several neighbors that their interest is peaked but I think they are afraid of the cost. They see all the crap I have and when we're loading up to head to races and think they need to spend that kind of cabbage. No matter how much I tell them you can do it for less I think they're still afraid.
