I have pretty cool neighbors, but on of them just had a baby and one day I was playing with my onroad and she came out with the baby crying and said that I woke her up. Awwe man, that cool, but that is the same neighbor who my dog bit. She must really hate me. Pretty cool.

I dont understand the big deal I live in an apartment complex and have never had anyone complain most say they can't even hear it inside

I play the drums, drive many of off/onroad R/Cs', fly planes, load/unload my dumptruck with a bobcat, use a bunch of big power tools and even jackhammers all in my yard. Neighbors only complained one time, and that was on a 4th of July party when we were setting off 6" coconut shells (the stuff you see at your local town park). Problem was, they were the silver salutes (BIG BOOM - no show, just flash) and we were setting them off out of the short pipe. Well every time we did, we set off all armed car alarms within 1/4 mile. Since then, everything else is mild.

Moral of the story, make the loudest noise you can with anything other than your R/C's and they will be thankful next time when its only your R/C's

All in all, stay within your towns sound ordinance and thats all you have to worry about.

that is hilarious. how does one know if he's in his sound ordinence?

1.) You'd have to find out the acceptable level in dB (duh)

2.) You'd have to get a sound meter?

my truck doesn't make a lot of noise so I'm not worried but would be a nice thing to know.

I find it hard to believe that ANY R/C will break the DB barrier. Now get 10 of them running and you might have an issue. Most sound ordinances are regulated by time of day. Otherwise we wouldnt be able to have live bands play in our back yard in the summer. And I KNOW none of our R/C's are as loud as the bands.... Check with your town hall.

You need to go to the Communistwealth, the noise level depends on whether someone gets annoyed by the sound, period! If I think your music is too loud and I can hear it from somewhere other than where the music is being played or outside of the structure (outside of a car applies as well) then it's illegal. Vehicle exhaust: stock only (stock equivilent will be accepted) nothing that is not listed in the parts manual regardless of decibal level on the output is legal.

I found these things are a bit louder than I thought. I took some readings casually with a sound level meter last summer to help EasyMaxx with the same question. I found that even at a comfortable distance (about 20 yards), my Maxx was pushing 75 dB. And within 3 feet of the stinger it was well into the 80's. That's a fair amount of noise. But like others have suggested, a lawnmower is close if not above those levels. It's just a matter of having a bunch of thin skinned "I'm more important that you" people in your community. I guess I'm on the other side. I used to live by a large international airport. Where I live now is scary quiet compared to that.
