Another lost track. Was one of the tracks I wanted to check out. :(

Indy:
"Announcement:
As of January 19, 2025 Indy RC World will be closing its doors for good. This was a very difficult decision to reach. There will be a schedule of events that will be posted shortly that will make up the final schedule. The Clinic for this weekend will go on as planned as will the 10th scale race in January. There will be an additional race for each off road and Oval as a final goodbye race.
Additionally, RCPro has been cancelled as well. Our feedback during scheduling has been that the track owners would like to pursue a different approach. I wish them well in their endeavors.
I have truly enjoyed being a part of the RC community for the last 8.5 years and there are too many people to thank to list them in this message. I will attempt to do that at a later date.
From the bottom of my heart, Thank You to everyone who has been a part of this great ride.
Sincerely,
Tighe"

This is very sad new as this place is a awesome facility and absolute great place to race. If this doesn't get it into your head to support your local shop nothing will ....... if we have no shops we have few/ no tracks to race on. I know not everyone is a racer, but we still need to support the local shops with as much as we can !!!!!

Racers are their own worst enemy in too many cases/too many places.

Businesses that cater to racing have a real struggle with attracting outsiders unless they can create/sustain interest in spec-class racing that will not scare off the new folks with the price tag to enter/be competitive.

Bashing has certainly taken over a huge portion of the RC universe, as that is all I'm interested in these days myself. Been there, done that with sanctioned racing... no desire to return.

Wow. Such an awesome looking track too! @WoodiE buy it and turn it into the official RCTalk track 😃

Hopefully somebody buys it and keeps it going. That would be a huge waste to tear down such a nice track

i heard this was the issue ..... i heard through the grape vine that the building had been for sale for a long time ....... rumor is someone finally purchased it ... in turn terminating the lease to indy ... but that could just be rumor ....I'm not 100%

Hopefully another track will open up nearby to replace it!!! That that looks like a nice facility!
Everything said about race tracks "fading" seems to be true.
I enjoy racing. Not sure if I enjoy it enough to spend $20 in gas and tolls and 2 hours of drive time to race though...
I hope there are other local tracks for these local racers!

Our local track here just keeps expanding. All outdoor. Started with a 1/8 track, then on the other side of the driver stand they added a 1/10 track. Last I heard they were working on a crawler course and dirt oval.

I LOVE hearing this!!!
Watching r/c tracks die, being replaced by abandoned or unused skate parks is sad to me.
I'm just not into seeing how high my car will fly before I finally shatter the chassis! Backyard bashing WILL be a lot of fun once I up my "basher" truck! I understand the draw to "just run"!
Racing IS fun!
It IS accessible for a budget racer IF the track provides a class for it! (they need to be doing this!❤️)
@DavidB1126 attepting a mini class is clear proof of this!
Racers WANT to race!!!
Clearly, my "local track" moving has hit close to home. I'm really sad to see the hobby moving away instead of expanding to 2 tracks, and 3... There USED to be an outdoor track pretty close by.
It was closed before I knew it existed.
My timing SUCKS! 🤣
Whenever I hear good things about r/c or it bringing families, ppl together... THIS is what r/c is about to me!

Well, looking at their FB page after this past summer, it appears they ended up cancelling a few races due to no turnout. But it was kind of a miserable summer for being outside here too.

This summer's heat was extreme up here too. It takes a toll on lots of places that don't have A/C.
It also drives tourists here by the trillion. Great for beach business, no good when your "local track" is located DEAD CENTER of an off-ramp from I-95, on RT1 North. THE busiest "side" road in coastal Maine!
Traffic is "special" with 5 lanes of "no one knows the area" tourists!
If it weren't for the traffic, the track would have a bigger summer draw. Most locals aren't big fans of the Masshole tourist season and avoid it.
Winter is a no brainer here. Unless you live in a gymnasium, you're gonna head to a track if you want to run.
Salted, sanded parking lots are NO GOOD for r/c cars! 🤣

Does this place have big fluxuation seasonally?
Do you have a "tourist season" at all?

During the Parke County Covered Bridge festival in October that goes on for two weeks I believe, an estimated 2,000,000 people pour through the area. Take 2,000,000 people over a 2 week span and funnel them into the most sparsely populated county in Indiana, with more country roads than it has highways, it gets to be a freakin mess.

A typical 45 minute drive through anywhere in the area turns into no less than 3 hours. Everything is narrow two lane roads with a couple highways through it that get backed up for over 10 miles. There used to be one major event in Rockville. Then Bridgeton and Mansfield joined in. They're like 3 huge festivals spread around the area. Not to mention every little town for a 30 mile radius having their own vendors setting up along evety main road. A gazillion huge multi-family yard sales, Getting from one to the other and parked took a minimum of 2 hours and $10-$20 to park your car. Then a good 1/2 mile walk sometimes to the vendor/food area. And that's if you even make it to the next event.

You can't drive more than a couple miles in any direction without seeing another group of vendors setup in some farmers field, or in neighborhood lots rented out to vendors at a whopping $1000/week.

Just one of the bigger events.

Then we have various big racing events, Little Italy Festival, etc. Timothy McVey was executed here. Boy, that was a freakin mess with media, helicopters, government vehicles, a slew of new police cars cruising around etc.

Wow! Reminds me of "bike weekend"... bike week...??? Laconia. Gets longer ever few decades...
The area isn't really capable of handling the traffic.
I stopped going years ago when it became about vendors and cops and not about bikes and fun.
The commercialization of things REALLY dampens my love of said "things, places" a lot of the time too.
Too much of a good thing I guess!
That aerial photo kind of says it all! WOW!!!

You should have experienced the pre Indy 500 festivitities the day before the race back in the day. Imagine an area about that size full of drunken lunatics. One group brought in a semi. The entire trailer folded open like a transformer, which turned into a semi trailer sized stage, with huge speakers, lights, fog machines, and multiple stripper poles. Then out came the ladies 🥰😍😛

Craziest event I ever been to.

I've "heard" that RCTALK was looking into a similar trailer... 🤫
Only a bunch of fat guys running on a crawler track so not really the same... 🤔
🤣
That pit party sounds "off the safety chains-fun"!!! 🤣

We have a big field just outside I'm sure @WoodiE could rent to park it 😁

I'm accepting donations for the new rig now. 😉
I think we done missed any good Tamiya 1/14 semi sales unfortunately, but we'll see what we can find 😅

Garland, Texas is located in the the DFW (Dallas/Ft. Worth) metroplex. Traffic is horrendous. I-45 N/S and I-20 E/W cross there adding to the nightmare. Yes track is nice and has a good run of support. Used to monitor their website, FB seems to have captured that crowd and web reports fell into disuse.

Nearest track to me in the Houston area is Mike's in Porter, Texas. Mike's has both national level off-road (covered) and on-road (not covered). It's a 35mile drive through, like DFW, horrendous traffic with no let up. It's all-day rush hour. That put me off racing here. And like 9x19 states, above, sometimes racers are their own worst enemy. Used to be Houston had 8 off-road 1/10 and 1/8 tracks to race at. Racers complained, the usual, 'too dry; too wet; too tight; too loose; bad design; ad infinitum. . . ' One by one they all shut down leaving only Mike's b/c it was "covered and dead smooth clay."

If you've got a local track, yeah, support them best you can. And the beat goes on. Sigh. -AC
