I do have 6 acres of wide open field. I'll still get the brakes working before I drive it out of the barn 😀
6 acres? Do you have someone availible to film while you try to 'stop' without brakes? 🤣

The hand brake will stop it, you just have to be careful not to pull too hard or itll stop it fast!
Also 1st gear only goes to like 9mph so its not like you're flying 😉

My Dad had a Model A when I was young. I am familiar with the design and the high speed capabilities of day. Lol!

With 6 acres, you'd HOPE it would stop even if you just shut her down and rode it out.

Finding that wooden frames and metal in good shape must have made you smile. Great luck!

I may have mentioned my love for 'vintage' things once or twice here on the forum. I really like this project. I wish I could see it in person! Fantastic!!! 😍

Working on the brake linkage today. Its a very simple push/pull rod system. The spring actually doesn't need replaced, rather the joints between links have 70 years of road dirt caked on them so nothing is moving.

I spent an hour scraping the linkage and knuckles clean, then sprayed everything in Free All. Just a waiting game until the next round 😀

Feels like 103 here today so I'm done working outside. I think I'll go "work" in my 66 degree basement!

Id never leave the basement. Cold and dark the way I like it. Spent many days covering the truck windows to block the sun out on down time. Really miss those days.

It sounds like you have a great project going on. It's really satisfying to make that old stuff work again - it makes you realize those old engineers knew what they were doing! No computers needed either.
When I was young (and ambitious) I bought a 1933 Ford 4 door sedan for $75. It had been completely disassembled, got it home with my friend's dad's 59 chevy wagon and a big trailer. I didn't know what a 33 Ford looked like, but I had built models of 32 Fords so I figured it must look sort of like that. Took me a couple of years to get it going, but I did eventually. I even drove it through a few Wisconsin winters. No heater, real dim reflector headlights, mechanical brakes, generator just barely able to keep up - what a way to learn.
I bet your uncle would be glad to know you're working on it and wouldn't want you to make it into a hot rod.

Thanks for posting that video of it turning over!

Takes me back to being on our family farm messing around in the machine shed with anything and everything.

Keep it up, you have a great project there and an awesome thread!
