i had to get a new steering servo for my r/c today and decided to replace it myself. It was a blast when i was done with no mistakes and have learned quite a few new things. These r/c's arent so bad to fix , hehe......I'm sayin that now.

just wanted to rant

Nice. Doesn't if feel good to do stuff on your own? Wait until you rebuild an engine. I haven't had a hobby shop replace any of my parts...it's better that way

Anyhow, congrats and don't be afraid to work on your car more when problems arise...

Welcome to r/c man, half the fun is workin on em!

There is no way i would even consider this hobby if i couldn't work on this stuff myself. If I run in to something i am not familiar with i just ask for advice on this board. There is nothing that i have not been able to fix so far and all i do is follow these guys instructions to the tee

I just hate working on the TMaxx tranny.... I'm such a wussy! Thats the ONLY part on all of my rides I dont like.

Good for you man! Now you will grow a little more and start getting crazy ideas like the rest of us!

What's so bad about the tranny?

Nothing - I'm just a wussy with that tranny! I dont know why. Dont get me wrong, Ill work on it, I just dont like it!

You are a wuss,
I assembled my trany in about 15 minutes. After you dump revers there isn't anything left.

I hate diffs.:stick:

yeah, diffs are a pain...I hate them all...ball diffs are the worse cuz of those damn balls...they're so tiny and easy to loose

:OT: :ban: Ed??????

LOL 8-0 :hehe:

I think he just called you a flamer you gonna take that??????? :D

nitrojunkie,

congrats man.

I have yet to open any gear boxes. The three diffs on my buggy honestly scare me. I really should tune them with silicone, but too afraid to take them appart. Maybe I'll open the extra Duratrax gear box for fun.

btw, I couldn't stop laughing about the tiny balls comment.

You know, the best thing to make you unafraid of working on any part of the car is to just get a kit and build the whole thing...then it's like magic and all of a sudden you're cool with every part of it

After I built my first kit, that was when I really got competent in fixing my own cars

That's great that you fix your own ride. There's such a great feeling of accomplishment  and knowing that you didn't have to pay up butt to have someone else fix it.

One of the LHS charges $20 for the first hour and then $10 for every half hour after that. Why couldn't they just put $20 an hour? I also remeber seeing a girl pick her T-Maxx up for a repair and they charged her $40 to change a spur gear.:wedgie: I'm thinking in my head I would of done it for free, she was cute.:shhh:

:OMG:

you spotted a female R/C user? You should have taken a picture. That's like seeing bigfoot, Elvis or a flying saucer... I take that back... you see bigfoot more often than you see a female R/C user...
