Another Monster truck. I have had a revo and a t maxx, and i raced buggies for about 2 years, and i was planning on getting back into it this winter but i had about 800 dollars invested and still realized i wassnt even close to being able to race yet. so I'm selling all my racing stuff and I'm going to buy another monster truck jus to bas around my back yard.
I like te traxxas models but i really wanna just try something else.. I was looking at the savage and they seem to be a good truck but i dont really like the chassis design. So what I'm asking is what your fav. monster trucks are for bashing and to buy alot of hop ups and what not.

Absolute best truck for bashing is the savage.period.But if you get the racing bug again it wont really work for ya.But the savage XL 5.9 is a real nice truck will go almost anywhere anytime and do it looking good and going fast,Lol

are all of the savage parts interchangeable?? i never understood the differenes in the trucks

Nope, they differ as you go through the series.

Old savage 21 and 25 are very similar with minor differences such as the engine.

X, XL are very similar with different TVP's and center axle.

21, 25 differ from the X, XL by tvp's, diff internals, diff cases/bulkheads, towers, trans case, radio box, engines and I'm sure a few other things.

Well, the newer ones did get easier to maintain and a few upgrade parts are on them too. That would be the X and XL.

The XL has a hog of an engine on it, but it is longer than all other savage platforms which adds for better handling off of jumps and stuff. So if I were to buy new, that would be the one I would buy. Like the X, it also has easier access diffs, trans and radio box. Also has dual brakes. I believe it also comes with the newer servo saver for steering along with a few other bits.

Okay thnks alot, I'm looking forward to adding a couple to my collection

Pick up a Jammin X2 truggy, SO much more fun and more durable than a MT. They will not wheelie but they are fast as hell, ultra stable and can jump with the best of them.

I recently got a savage X 4.6 & it's tough. I imagine some of the others may be a bit easier to work on, but the savage X is pretty easy (at least I think so).

The TVP chasis just has a lot of screws, but by "standing up" the plates, you get a lot of stength in the direction you need it when landing the big jumps from the chasis.

For a basher, it's important to have parts easily available (on-line or locally), and where I'm at all of my LHS's have parts in stock for them, so that was one factor in my decision............I have to say though, after 1.5 gallons of fuel, and a lot of hard driving, the only thing I've broke so far, include - an antenna tube ($1.00) & wire ($1.50), an A-arm (2 for $12 for the stock ones), and a drive shaft that goes to the one wheel when the a-arm broke (2 for $12).

My point being, there is A LOT of HPI & aftermarket parts for the savage X, but out of the box, it's pretty tough, and has a lot of nice features like a servo saver, & easy access differentials.

I also looked at the Savage XL, but ended up chosing the X & i have no regrets.

Can you tell I like my savage ?:D

Ha, all i here is good things about them, I am going to buy a couple tmaxxs first and do a project on them and make them pretty bulletproof like they did on the jump maxx for beat your truck. Then i am going to pick up a savage and do a little project on it also. I look forward to posting the projects on here and thnks for all the info

T-Maxx= waste of money for hard bashing. T-Maxx's are for the casual around the yard drivers. It takes a ton of dough to make a Maxx 1/2 as durable as a stock Savage.
