I've been out of this Fourm for quite awhile, I have been popping in and out just to check up on the current member situation and whos naughty and whos nice. Now that I'm back, I have a question for you veterans out there.

My servo saver(stock) on my savage could be bad, or maybe my receiver is bad. I turn on everything in order(tx first rx last) then Start up the Savage right? Well I run down the street, slam the brakes and it takes about 100feet to stop, then when i turn, it uses the WHOLE street to just do a U turn. I've replaced every battery possible, and I've tried cleaning out the rx, but no positive results. Could you help me figure out what my problem is, could it be a broken steering servo? or maybe a loose servo saver? Is there a problem like this that you savage owners or MT owners have encountered. I can't drive right now because all my RC's are out of commission. The Rustler is installing the new A-Arms, and the car needs new tires...help me with the beasty...help....help....help ......

First off, you need to buy new brakes, get the HB brake kit.

The motor in the steering servo could be going bad also.

Well i had something like that happen to me. If it turns slowey when the wheels are off the ground then you should check all of your places that turn make sure they arnt Binding( i think) What i am trying to say is that make sure all the places that turn Just make sure the screws are not to tight.

Do you have the stock servo? It could be weak. I've heard the stock servo-savers suck. Try a Kimboro one or the Monster Pirate steering setup.

The stock servo savers are c-spring and adequate. They are nothing on the level of a Kimbrough. It is entirely possible that you have worn out the servo saver.

It is also likely that you have burnt up the stock servo. Not the strongest of stock steering servos, but better than the stock Traxxas steering servo. At least that is my opinion.

You mentioned that you changed out batteries. That is a good place to start. Were the "new" batteries brand new straight from the store...or had they been sitting in a drawer somewhere in your house? If brand new, then the batteries are probably not the problem. I'd start looking for a new servo.

I recommend a HiTec HS-5645MG or its little brother the 645-MG. Both are great for steering servos. I run the 5645 (a digital servo) as the steering servo in all of my rides. It performs.

Until Pro-Line comes up with a steering kit for the Savage, I recommend the Kimbrough servo-savers. They have served me well on both my Savage and my T-Maxx. If you get the servo listed above, make sure you go with the Large servo saver (often referred to as the Heavy Duty or H/D servo saver). Great price (under $7) and great performance.

BTW...Welcome Back.

Looks like my next purchase will be the Kimbrough servo saver, and a Hi-Tec servo. I guess the engine swap and radio swap will have to wait...I dont want to spend all my money in one place...Christmas is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO close! ahhh.....

sup how it been,

I didnt read the post that got posted but what you could do like what i do on my rustler is just fix the brake linkage. thats all i do and works good.

and for the steering get a new servo. I used to have a JR one with metal gears and it was great, I dont know the model number but it was around 50 dollars.

It helps if you DO read the post that starts the thread. Your advice is decent, but to come in and say you didn't read the post...and then offer advice. Well, let's just sat that doesn't get people really into paying attention to what you have to offer in the way of advice.

Just some food for thought.
