so I'm on the local adds for infomall, when I find this duratrax 1/5 off road bike. It's brushless, comes with a pair nono-tech 3s lipos, the bike and rider are blue. So if nobody has any ill comments about duratrax then I think I'll drive over tomorrow and pick it up.

So I got an e-mail from the bike seller, and he's also asking 100 for a pair of nano-tech 3s lipos packs, with made me post this question here: Can't I get 8 of those for 100 on hobbyking?, so what gives, are this guys battery pack special or something?

You can't get 8 for $100 lol. But it depends on the specs of the batteries, I definitely think he's trying to get close to retail for those packs. Those batteries are cheaper then most, but shipping them into Canada (if that's were he's is located) can get expensive depends on the mood of the people in customs that day. I've had parts from the states come in with no duty, and I've been charged $24 in duties on a order that was just over $50. I'm sure you've experienced the same thing.

Like I said before check out bego racing for some SMC packs, they're great batteries and a great price and you won't have to pay duty just shipping.

I did try and order some SMCs lipos, but they were for the MERV and everything seemed like the dimensions were off (too tall, and too wide) so I stopped looking there for the time being. Until I get a hold of a 1/10 e-revo.

I ordered 4 3s lipos from hobbyking for the MERV for just about $65 w/shipping.
A small banner popped up, it read the staff at hobbyking have noticed you observing this product, and would like to offer you a 1 time only discount price! So like a sucker I ordered them! Now I wonder what the additional costs will be if they get here tomorrow.

Where did you order your lipos from, if you order within the countries in the nafta agreement, then there should be no "duties", but there are customs charges, and your provinces taxes (GST/PST) that get added to the bill at the post office!

Yeah I just call mine duty fees, they're brokerage fees and taxes. I ordered from the states and find that ups is the most expensive shipper for the fees. I once paid $13 for warranty parts before, and ups wanted more but nobody at ups could tell me for what so they waived them.

I've never ordered lipos from anywhere but Bego racing, I was under the impression that American companies didn't ship lipos across the border anymore unless it was shops. I tried last summer to get some gensacearespammers from Hobby Parts and I got a message saying they don't ship lipos to my country. Let me know what happens when you take delivery of them as I'm in need of some 3s.

Sure thing bud! I didn't see any messages from hobbyking after I paid. The ones I ordered are the 3s 1400mAh w/traxxas connectors, I believe. All hobbyking asked was for me to select the proper county, and postal code......so I'm still in the waiting game, I haven't seen any e-mails saying they can't be shipped to me yet.

Nope still no word from hobbyking, saying they won't ship batteries to me. Cassie at T-bones racing sent me an e-mail stating that my chassis brace/skid plate/wheelie bar order is done and shipped on the 30th of August.

They may be coming from a different warehouse then the American one. Or maybe they've changed this rule/law. I looked into it and from what I understood was it was something to do with transport regulations in the states and bringing explosive/chemical properties over the border. It was awhile ago and I really don't want to chase that mystery down again right now.

Anyways I'm bored, can't wait for school to start tomorrow (that's something you never would've heard me say 15 years ago) I'm going to the bait shop then down to the river. Get me some perch, hopefully.

Well, got to run the bike today, and um it's kinda difficult, I spend a lot of time standing it back up, and running to is so's the dogs wouldn't use it as a chew toy.

wacmartin my lipos are coming from the international warehouse, yep forgot to adjust that feature. They were shipped to Vancouver city from Hong Kong. I asked if hobbyking has had any difficulties shipping to Canada and the live chat rep didn't seem to think so, only time will tell if customs will let me have them though.

My electric bike is about ready to roll as soon as I round up enough people to meet me at the school parking lot after hours for 'recovery detail'.
I just got a cheapie wheelie bar and I'll be extending the crash bars and installing the wheels for "Training purposes".

1400 mah lipo's are a little low for a 1/5 scale bike. I hope the person that ordered those didn't order them for the 1/5 bike. You're prob. gonna want at least a 30c discharge 4,000+ pack if it has 1/10 or 1/8th electronics, if it's 1/5th stuff, you're going to need some big batteries.

I'm just using the lipos that the previous owner had, he wanted a $100, but he accepted $50 for both. The 3c 1400 mAh are for my MERV and my nephew's mini-summit.
