Dumbasses put it out a day early. Seems it has been there all day. LMAO. I almost bought it but it is already on my PC via Steam and I am just waiting for it to be unlocked tomorrow. Maybe I should go back, it's only $50 :)

My copy is sitting at EB right now, I'll be picking it up on my way home - I shall return to normal life within 4-6 weeks :D

I spent all night watching trailers for the game and I have to say I think Halo 2 is gonna see a back burner. You just cannot compete with the graphics a realism and physics the new SOURCE engine brings to the table. I see now why is has taken them 5-6 years for the sequel. I will be on that sum bitch as soon as I get home! (maybe even a long lunch is in order.

Half Life 2 is sitting right next to me as I type this just waiting for me to take it home and play the hell out of it - and that's exaclty what I'm going to do come 6 o'clock!

I really never thought I would see the day that a game would look so good. I just really can't believe this game. I really am at a loss for words on this one. It's magnificant.

Hey Woodie,

How far did you get last night? I am stuck in the water ways (underground railroad). I am to the point where you have to flood the room with the valve. Then you go back to the other room and swim through the tunnel that you could not reach before. Now I am stuck in the next room that is flooded and you come up on one side with a ladder and you need to get to the other side that has a ledge. Now I have swam down to the bottom and cracked the boards to let the boxes float to the top. Now what is really frustrating me is I cannot jump off the boxes. I can climb on top of them and almost make the ledge but every time I fall back into the water. I tried this for like an hour until I got so dizzy spinning around in the water I thought I would puke. There are still 3 cable spindles at the bottom under the water but I can't seem to dislodge them so they will float to the top. The pipes on either side are holding the cable spindles at the bottom. Any ideas? I searched the www for like half an hour and cannot find any word about it. I know a lot of good games came out lately and I have been praising them, but they do not hold a candle to Half -Life 2!

HB,

You have to get those spindles dislodged from under the water, once they surface jump on them and your home free.

I had to stop playing for a bit because I'm getting motion sickness from the game, HL and HL2 are the only games that I've felt motion sickness from, but regardless this is by far the best game ever - the graphics are freaking awesome!

Thank you, and it is the best game ever. I feel all tired. It's been like the video game olympics here lately.

OK, you two, I'm thinking of getting HL2, but I may grab HL first to get the story. I have been reading a bit on HL2. So what's the deal with Steam? I'm not sure I understand exactly what it is. From what I read, it sounds like you can only play HL2 if your connected to the internet. Am I right? If that's the case, it seems idiotic for me to have to tie up a phone line just to play the game. Is there provisions to play this offline without connecting? I'm totally confused....

From what I understand you only need the internet connection to play multiplayer and activate it. I will disconnect my internet connection in a bit and test to see if I can still start and play the game. My thoughts are that the internet connnection is only for Steam to unencrypt the files from the CD. This helps a lot with piracy.

A lot of people are making a fuss but I have high speed internet that is always on so it is no bother to me. As soon as the game went live I just restarted steam and it took it 5 minutes to unlock. It was all easy as pie if you ask me. Now the people that bought the disks are the ones with all the issues. VeVendi Universal (the publisher) thought they would protect there interest by making a CD check requirement, so not only do retial people have to load all the CD's, they also have to unlock via steam, and then put the damn cd in every time they want to play. This was not Valve's doing.

If you don't already know, Vevendi Universal (publisher) and Valve (the actual game maker) are in a huge court battle for rights. Currently Valve makes money off of Steam and VU makes money off of the disks. And shame on you to all that bought the disks and supported the bad guy here............

Luckily I haven't bought anything yet. I did hear about Vivendi and Valve having huge issues. I did also hear that people with retail copies were having installation troubles. My problem is that being a 56k'er will make using Steam a pain. I saw the package that you can get with HL2, HL and a couple other Valve games for only like $60. I only worry about how long it would take me to download all that from Steam. I totally have to get with the future here. Dialup is just a dog.

Dialup would take too long. Re-think why you still have dialup? Is it your area or is the extra $10-$20 a month for high speed gonna kill you?

Candyman,

No you only need a connection when you install the game to activate it, you can play offline w/o being on the net.

3 words: Ravenholm is ILL! Chucking sawblades at zombies and chopping them in the half with the Grav gun is all that and then some. I just love picking up a car and chucking it at a Zombie.

Man I'm still trying to get the controls down for the gav gun - all i can manage to do it shot something with it and make it shot off to god only knows where.

How do I use it to pick up and control stuff?

With the Grav gun you can just blast stuff away with mouse button 1, but if you want to pick it up to throw it with control at an enemy first press mouse buttome 2 to pick it up, then press mouse button 1 once you have it aimed correctly at the enemy. You will find explosive barrels make AWESOME projectiles! Did I say this is the best game ever yet?

Man after posting that I started playing HL2 after work and got to the stage with the saw blades and about 5-6 zombies walkin in a line - now that as FREAKING AWESOME!!!!

Hehe, how could anyone not like that poop! Ooh the way the zombies scream! This is my favorite level so far. Like I said, wait until you got like 6-7 of the lunging zombies all coming at you super fast and you blast them with an explosive barrel and take out the whole crew! BOOM! body parts all over da place. :smoke:

I'm just about near the last chapeter of the game.. playing on hard dificulty

boy does it get challenging
