ED this happend to me last summer, but I did not take the bait. I guyd pulled up at the gas station where I was going in to buy a drink, and he said you in to speakers? I said i was and in the back of his denali he had a home speaker setup and showed me a small magazine deal. Then he asked how much i had on me.... But then I just said no thanks real quick and got back in my truck and got out of there. lol Funny same exact story basicly.

Ed did they worl or did you get burned? I don't trust those type deals...No reciept or way to return them. Too risky at 300 bones.10-30 bucks ok but nothin more.

Being that I've been working in Manhattan for the last 22 years, I see lots of poop going on. NYC is the home of the scam.
People don't approach me that much because I'm a seasoned veteran of the streets, and over the years you develop a "game face".
If I am approached by one of these "pst pst, yo yo yo" guys, I tell them "OH! Take a f**kin walk"!
They know right off the bat that I will not be there mark.
Just a note, If you come off with a comment like that, you may have to get tough, so don't do it unless you can bust some heads.
Keep in mind kids, if it's off a truck or van, it's probably a scam or stolen.
Sorry to here about that ED. You should know better. :ponder2:

soryy to hear about the scam ed,

but I'm wondering how you carried large speakers home while walking the dog?

you didnt have them drive them to your house & show them where the man who can carry $300 on him lives did you?

Hey Ed, I have this beautiful piece of land for sale down in Florida..........oh nevermind. Glad the speakers work atleast so all is not lost. Are the cabinets nice?

We had a couple of guys in the white van in this are about a year ago. My buddy bought a pair of speakers from them for $200.00. They did work but they sound like they should have cost about $50.00.

Hasn't anyone ever heard "if it's too good to be true, than it probably is"? It's like when you look for a older classic car, and your familiar with prices, if you see something really cheap you have to ask what's wrong with it? This is probably a bad example cause you could get stuck with crap even if it isnt cheap.

This is weird. I hadthe "white van" come up to me 10 or so years ago doing the same thing...."These were extra in the van and unaccounted for" They didnt take my $10 offer!

Just 2 weeks ago at a Sheetz and the "white van" come up to me again....same story, just told them to piss off this time and they drove off.

Hmm....Let's see. Eddy gets scammed about a year ago on a credit fraud deal at one of his stores. Right?

He gets scammed a few days ago by guys in the white van, right?

I'm kinda seeing a pattern....

By the way, Eddy, have Jose, Jose, Pedro and Jose shown up to finish your floor? Or is the job still half done and is your cat missing????

Well they do work so all isn't lost. I donut think ill be doing that again. Live and learn.

Bad cop, no donut!

Personally, I've never been through this scenario; this little town is too small and too hillbilly for the white vans. However, a few years ago, there were some door-to-door salesmen selling wireless alarm systems that had the siren built into the control panel. I asked them "what about the dogs... at 105 decibel (claimed siren output), won't they go deaf?" "yeah, there's no way around that".

About a month later, at a clients house, there was the alarm system. Didn't work for beans, including the siren itself. It put out a warble that was barely a whisper.
