So today I return from shoping and theres a box on my door. I'm like cool and it says its from tower. I open it up and its my os 18 tm with a note that reads. "After inspecting your motor and parts we found nothing wrong with it. We replaced the piston and sleve at your request for free but next time there may be a service charge". What the hell, I clearly marked the damaged area with a sharpie and tape. They did replace my sleve and piston though which is a good thing. So I seald it up and slaped it in the revo. I'm going to start breakin tomarrow after the rtv has a chance to set up. I'm just a little pissed that they didnt think there was a problem with it, after I clearly marked the issue and dent on the side of the piston. I hope this one works this time. I want to get back to the track so bad. I have a question though, anyone ever install a piston spacer on the piston that goes on the pin threw the top, it stops the side to side movement on the rod. I have heard this helps. Anyone tried it? Thanks for your time.

Their tech support definitely leaves a lot to be desired. Back when I purchased my MBX5, I tore down the OS VZ-R that I bought with it, and it had a cracked piston. I basically got the same treatment, minus the note (I called and talked to a Tower rep before sending it in).

A few months later, when breaking it in, I noticed the temps were really high. Their response; "you're out of luck, no help here since you ran the engine". It wasn't until I was literally beat-tired and staring at a Nova S25 head that I figured it all out; too small of a cooling head.

The moral of the story; don't rely on Tower for after-purchase care on products exclusive to Great Planes (OS, Hobbico, Duratrax, etc). They all use the same minimum wage, don't give a rats rear end about the customer people.

O yaaaaaaa!!! I just finished the break in without a flaw this time. I got it running pretty decent and man, I'm a beliver in os now. Its got a way more smooth power band then that of the 3.3 and it pulls threw out the low end. I'm goin to get it tuned up with the resignator and ms tomarrow and then I'm set and up and running for the track again. can't frigin wait!

This motor is so smooth. I put it in my 3.3 race truck today and man just made the truck complete. But one issue, the throttle arm at wot is like all the way out. I can't find a longer arm anywhere so I'm goin to try to make a longer one tomarrow out of aluminum. Should be interistening. Ill post up a pic if I ever get it right lol.

That almost sounds like a standard response to a warranty claim, plus it seems to end any further claims on that engine.
Also, if there wasn't a problem, chances are they wouldn't have replaced the piston and sleeve.

Congrats , by the way.
