If it's the mechanical speed control (or Msc), you might be able to get one from Tower Hobbies; they carry a lot of the older parts in the clearance area. Otherwise, maybe check ebay...?

However, if it's an electronic speed control, you can put a modern day speed controller from Novak in the car.
 
Unless you plan on restoring it as a shelf queen I'd upgrade to an ESC. The price of an entry level ESC is very affordable. You also lose the weight of the throttle servo.

Not to mention the loss of the 4AA pack. The ESC will simplify wiring alot.
 
Before I switched to brushless motors, I was using Novack's SPY and they are a very strong ESC.
