i finally got it to start,,idling perfect, but when you try to give it any throttle, instantly shuts down,,,,,

why you ask,,,,

well when i got the maxx it had the foc kit ,,i converted it back to reverse,,notta problem, then i bought a new wiring harness for it ,,wire it just like the book shows ,red on top black on bottom got it on and working good
well now it starts and idles,,,but no go,,,i thought now what the ---- is going on here ,,well the damn thing is starting in reverse ,,,not the tranny ,,but the motor is starting backwards,,the spurs is tring ot turn if looking from the front ,counter clockwise ,,notclockwise liek it should
RIGHT?? HOPEFULLY ANYWAY ,,so anyway if i am right what i need to do it reverse the wires flip the 1-way then it will start the right way and move the way it should have no clue why the guy that i got it from did this or wired it this way,,but what done it done ,and all i need to do is fix the darn thing lmao,,

and that will explain the hard starting problems and tuning also,,,

if i am wrong please say so,,cause i am in the middle of tearing it back apart for the 3rd time today and i really do not want to redo it a 4th

take care

if it shuts down (engine cuts off) when you apply throttle then more than likely your needle settings are to rich. I would say it has nothing to do with moving parts.

what i am saying is the motor is starting backwards ,it starts idles and but if you take the airfilter off it spits fuel all over out the carb throat ,also it will not move ,will rev to about 3/8 to 1/2 throttle then shut down ,
the bel land spur are moving the wrong way, they should move clock wise ,not counter clockwise ,,
see what i mean ..
take care rick

Racin,
Simply put, when you start the engine, the flywheel should be turning counterclockwise when looking at the front of the engine. If the flywheel (NOT the spur gear) is turning clockwise, then the engine is turning backwards. You'll have to flip the one-way and reverse the red and black wires on the EZ start motor.

If fuel is spitting out of the carb when u pull the air filter off (which is a no-no when its running) it sounds way to rich! The clutch bell turns the same way the flywheel does, but the spur turns the opposite. So, if the clutch bell is turning counter-clockwise, the spur should be turning clockwise. That is if you are looking at the truck from the front to the back.

got it,,,flipped the 1-way and slid the new connectors onto the poles and soldered them,,(always do) now the flywheels turns counter clock wise like it should,,
after 2 days of trying to get this thing to work,,all along it was starting backwards m
i heard of them doing this ,,but never seen it ,,,now i did,,and it actually ran ,lmao,,,

WHAT A RUSH....LMAO

take care
thanx

Oddly enough, I had it happen once with my Omega 21 Comp. It has a damn pullstart. Apparently it kicked back so hard on early ignition (was kind of flooded) that it was fired in reverse! Sounded like you explained yours. Very weird sound exhaust note and wouldn't move (was spinning everything backwards on my savage) or idle worth a crap. It was the weirdest thing. I immediatly shut it down, stood there baffled for a minute and tried starting it again. This time, it fired right up and purred like a kitten.

Just reading the aboove made me think of a funny story, not really RC related...

I'm a bike mechanic/racer and was at a moto-x event once and all the riders lined up at the tape, started their bikes and the tape dropped. One of the bikes shot backwards at some rate of knots before spitting the rider off! It was a classic Mako 500 2-stroke and apparently the guy had managed to kick it just right to get it to fire backwards by mistake, didn't hear it because of all the other noise, dropped the clutch and whoosh!

And my missus was standing there with a video camera looking in front of the line... Damn!
