well whether keepin it or not, i'm goin thru the rebuild. think i'll leave a state by state update in this post on it.

right now everythin got pulled down 2 nearly bare chassis (left center diff unit/housin in place, dont feel like tacklin that now).

rebuilt front and rear diffs w/appropriate silicone lube, checked internal bearings for feel. needed new front gear box due to multiple holes b'g stripped up top.

all hinge and kingpins were check, polished and put back after all the arms were went over, bored and clearanced for binds. and there were 2 i found. so mechanically should work better.

needed new rear arms, both shock bolt holes were stripped and 1 was finally killed when shock broke. so new arms in rear. got new upper links after inside portions showed signs of wear.

only 1 hub assembly on the car at this pt, i found some mismatched and tired bearings that need replacing. in addition up front i found 2 bent pbs bolts.

the wing mount is broken at the 1 lower mounting ear. couple of stripped/tired/and 2 missing screws.

then there's that motor and thus the exhaust system. havent touched it yet nor will i till closer to spring. thus the clutch will be addressed then as well.

radio gear was fine, came out as normal, cleaned things up. if i keep it, i'll get a flat pack holder and thus a flat rx pack. thinkin of movin onto the mx3s 4 the truck and this if i keep it.
645mg is doin fine.

fresh bushings in the bellcrank installed.

still have that busted shock, bought shafts and a rebuild kit 4 all 4, but will likely just buy a shock set 4 a wealth of extra parts either way.

all toll thus far that needs replacing during this rebuild.

2 pbs bolts (both shorter length bolt)
rear wing mount
2 wheel bearings (to this point, didnt inspect fronts yet)
bellcrank bushings
rear pbs arms
rear upper arm links
diff fluid (3,5,1 in favor of factory grease)
misc screws
front gear case

IFs

gas/brake linkage
engine
exh system

anyways, i'll keep updatin the progress on this thing. like i've said idk if i'll keep it, there's the motor issue and there's the radio equip issue and running 2 cars. many have tried to encourage me to keep the buggy and i do admit there fun and many others out there to run with. but idk....2 cars is alot. i even thought bout goin and buyin a storm so i'd have 2 similar vehicles, and also ability 2 start them on the same starter box. but between lack of parts stock, it needin a radio system regardless, and the fact that its now dated w/this avenger. i squashed that idea.

so still i debate. i'll say this indoor track runnin monsters might b a cool place to run the SUT i'll say. perhaps run that in the winter there and then outside do the buggy thing 4 the most part.

well enuff of a rant, hope any of u out there in the middle of a winter rebuild or project are havin fun.

i'll try 2 get some pix up. center diff and housing still hasnt moved. will get 2 it later

new pbs bolts and shock kit in rear.

new wing mount as well. startin to look like a car out back. chassis is naked except the 3 housings and the bellcrank. no action on front end yet.

picked up a dynamite linkage 4 that as well.

all other time as been put 2wards goin over the SUT b4 i really start runnin it.

front end chub conversion lol.

well i'm down 2 lil tidbit screws and brake pads i believe. i know somethin will hit here and there. but those are the 1s of significance as of yet.

i'm likely selling this thing once its finished. i said when i got back into this its goin 2 be 1 and only 1 car (er truck). i have the SUT and despite some issues i have w/its build quality, thats what i really wanted. i can race that outdoors and indoors.

and while this hyper has been a lotta fun (despite tempermental motor) and i see why the buggies are so numerous, its b/c their fairly easy 2 drive and really cutting edge. but i dont need 2 of them, let along a thoroughbred like the buggy eatin into my wallet. already spent too much on all this stuff and its got 2 stop. so the SUT stays and this likely goes.

now if i was able in some way 2 easily 'dress down' the SUT into storm form on occasion for the outdoor track, than maybe that'd be somethin to look into.

does your car have the c-hub front now?...or pbs?....

if it has pbs you'll have to have shock towers too i do believe it is all different...

lmk

-more steering binds and obstructions removed
-braces reinstalled
-radio box reinstalled
-all shocks now mounted
-tweak screws in new rear arms installed
-brake pads (f/r) installed

still waitin on screw kit and some other odds n ends

well all the diffs are done, screws replaced where needed.

have a new body and battery holder on the way. would like 2 find a lime wing 4 the car when that new body is done.

a radio system (another mx3) and a steering servo (hitec 9645 digital) is on the way 4 the buggy.

decided to keep it as i like the buggies as i was told b4 i got it. and there isnt a better solution out there 4 the money i want 2 spend.

i have decided on a motor. the new Fantom 21 motor. 160bux new, good runner, a pipe made 4 it, cheap rebuilds. everythin i'm lookin 4.
