Ok all I have left to do is put in batteries and my new JR Radio gear and I'm ready to start breaking in my new 8port engine.

I know there's been a lot of talk about the setting to use for the break in, so has anyone got a good solution for setting up the 8port of break in? What needle adjustments do I need to make?

I read somewhere that the standard settings are: HSN even with a small indented line inside the needle adjustment collar, and the LSN is 2 1/2 turns IN from flush with the linkage connection point.

I tried a lot of different setting but to get started this is what worked best for me?

I'm getting my hyper .21 8-port race engine for my buggy on Thursday or Friday. I don't know how different the Race engine is from the standard (aside from being 2.7HP :D) I would guess that are about the same. I'm *hoping* it has break in instructions included. If so, I'll be sure to share.

WoodiE,

I can send you the break-in directions I got with my 8 Port this evening. They worked just fine. The only thing I can say is that you need to keep it really rich and the break in settings that came with my engine are indeed really rich. After the break-in, I ended up going way lean to dial it in.

Let me know.

One last thing...make sure you use a long plug. The short ones just don't cut it. I got a long plug into my Hyper and all my starting and idling woes went away.

Sky,
Just setting up my Hyper 8 port.
What long plug(s) are you using or have you used?

This is the first engine I have ever purchased that didn't come with a plug.

I use one that Çh®i§tiªñ recommended on this link:

https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3694&highlight=plug

The company is Fox. I use the Gold Series, standard long. They work like a dream.

Perhaps recommended is too strong of a word. He actually referred to them in a list of companies. Any long plug should do, but so far the Fox have been the ones that have held up the best and have been easiest for me to acquire. The OS plug I tried, died a horrible disintegrating death (I had a Fox one do the same...so who knows).

Anyway...

I run the Fox long plugs in all my car engins.. I think there the best out there. They work and last a long time in my .21 8 port

When did you get an 8-port? And what ride is it in?

I got it a few days ago for my Cyber-Maxx.

It will be a week or so before I'm finished with it. I'm getting anxious to fire this puppy up.

Sorry about that Eddy. I figured you acquired it for the project Maxx. My question was directed more towards our resident "bullshit" artist.

BTW that thing looks pretty damn sweet. Can't wait to hear how it runs for you. One question, is the chassis plate a standard plate or is it an extended 21 style plate?

I guess I should have picked up on that. Wasn't sure if everything was hard mounted or just sitting in place. Still...it is a sweet looking beast, and all that room...kind of makes me want to drop some money on a project of my own...I have a couple of engines laying around doing nothing and enough spare parts to build me another T-Maxx. The only thing I'm missing is another chassis plate.

LOL...was wondering how long it would take you to pick up on that and respond. Getting slow in your "old" age. That 60mph Duratrash must be slowing you down.

HAHAHA I'm not on 24 7 like u guys. I sleep u know and I was working all day except for a hour when i posted that smartass sky....

My duratras is wortking great! thanks for asking

Ahhh...you're young. A little less sleep won't kill you. Besides, you'll get plenty of sleep when you're dead.

Just so you know, I'm not on 24-7. I sleep for at least an hour; so I'm only on 23-7.

:D

ahahahah yeah sure... I was up at 6am to work on a house with one of my uncles... I work for him.. and i went to bed at like 2 so I didnt sleep much...

maybe both of you can make it to the RCNT get-together. Someone just needs a radar gun.... :hehe:
