poop! I think it was Ivan than ran me out of Alabama last year, and I'm supossed to go back the week of 8-22.

Yeah, hopefully it doesn't destroy Alabama again a month before my vacation! They haven't even got the outdoor pool redone yet!

Thank God this one is going to miss me this time! We were worried here for a day or two. The gas lines were pretty bad here tonight, ice was gone, people are still in shock after last year. Since 1851 there have only been two category 3 or above hurricanes. I am getting sick of this poop already. TJ any good jobs by you? lol.

You say why do we live in florida. Well I can only speak for myself. I live 10 minutes from the coast. So I live in florida for the beaches, the spring breakers, the warm weather year round which means r/c bashing year round:). The chicks, the sunsets, the rum runners, the seafood, the spring breakers. Oops I already said that one but its worth a repeat. The fishing, the boating, the ocean, the business(booming right now)the snorkeling, the palmtrees, the vegitation. I have a lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit trees in my back yard(corona anyone)! I am from Indiana and moved down here for my wife 8 years ago and have only had one major hurricane(charlie)Still not a direct hit. I think Florida is paradise for the working man and the women are HOT I tell ya.
That is why I live in Florida and no female pee pee hurricane is gonna run me off. I say BRING IT!!!(*callls to make sure insurance is still ok*)Yea bring it!!!

btw the wifey and I got trashed last night on Southern Hurricanes. Southern C. mixed with hurricane mix. Well she did anyway I just took shots of the southern Co.

I live where the red dot is.

I HATE Florida! Year round heat and humidity, no change of seasons, oh wait, yes we do have a change of seasons. Tourist season, which btw why do they call it that if we can't shoot them, love bug season, and hurricane season. I was hit pretty good by three hurricanes last year, and really hard by 1. There are more old people behind the wheel than you can run off the road, making rights from the left lane, doing 35 in the left lane on the highway, and driving for 20 miles with there signal on. Salaries suck and are not in line with inflation, or housing costs. Yes there are palm trees, but who cares? Where are the beautiful fall colors (refer to no change of seasons) It gets old seeing only green all freakin year. I live 1 1/2 - 2 hours from either coast, so the beach for me is a schlep, not to mention the sharks. In 2003 Florida was the shark attack capitol of the world, and it looks like we are off to a good start this year too. Do I really want to serve my kids up on a buffett? I don't think so.

So why do I live here. I live here because my wife really needed to be near some family after my first son was born. Since hers was in Brooklyn, and mine was in Florida I merely chose the lesser of two evils. If I could only convince her to move back to Asheville NC I would be gone so fast! A few more of these hurricanes and it may not be that hard a sell.

I was born and raised in north west florida.I lve just north of the beach about 2 mins from the bay other side of bay is the gulf mabybe 5 miles max,I can take the mid bay tol bridge and be at beach in 10 mins. and I've been throw so many hurricans I've lost count. besides the south tip of florida we get a majotity of them in my are,the last two majer ones hit withen 50 miles of me( opal, and ivan). why do I live here this is my home town, this is where me and my wife chose to live, and raise our fammily. do I like hurricans no there a pain, hate the clean up, no power, water. and everything else that comes with them.is the area nice? yes it one of the nices areas in florida. no matter where you live theres going to be some typ of bad weather, or what ever that affects that area. But its really hard to move to another state and area, why where you live is all your friendas ans family close, so you kinda get stuck..

Everything you mentioned about liking FL is available in San Diego CA, minus the heat, bugs, humidity, and most of all the hurricanes.

Theres also a reason they write songs about California Women.

Damn! Thanks Ed for reminding me, how could I forget about the bugs! The state bird is the Moskito, we have giant flying nasty roaches called palmetto bugs, love bugs that smash all over your car and eat through the paint on your car, God knows how many spiders, and oh yeah fire ants, boy those are fun! Hey you think I could get a job with the Fl Chamber of Commerce, lol.

FLORIDA SUCKS!

That sounds like Minnesota... every time we go up there to visit family (hour southeast of fargo), the speed limit is 70MPH, but I'll be damned to find anyone that does over 60-65 and apparently cars up there don't come with cruise control either... 50.... 60... 67... 55... DON'T PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT GAS MILAGE!!!!

Sorry, done with my rant.

Glad the hurricane missed you. I'm pretty safe from them here in IL.

I would move to CA in a heart beat if i could get work there....

i would love to live in northern cali when I'm older but growing up in raliegh and all my family on the east coast could be difficult to visit them frequently.

I'm w/ NC...I lived here from 2.5 to almost 17....then moved to NYC til I was 27....moved back here cause my girl's family and mine are mostly down here and we were gonna have a baby....and the plan was to move back out of the state by the time she turned 5....well now I'm stuck here til she's 18......NICE.....I hate this shallow people / suckin air through a straw / Blue haired lady slow car drivin / racist white trash infested / artificially inflatted property value / low wage makin / spanish speakin (nothing againt other people just if you live in a country make an effort to learn the language) / butthead cop infested state....I didn't need to add all the stuff NC mentioned cause that's already a given......Colorado, B.C. or N. Cal if I can afford it.....

florida is state people go to when they want to die
the smell of death is in the air everywhere S of west palm beach.....retirement hell....

FLORIDA SUCKS!

that makes me laugh, i recently moved to southern florida from minnesota....you floridians are pussies when it comes to misquitos! there are like 3 in the whole state....but yea i have been hit by 5 hurricanes in the last year living in southernflorida.

You are INSANE if you think there are only three moskitos in the whole state. I live on the water and there are three moskitos per square inch. They also carry encaphalitis, as well as a number of other diseases. I would love to know where in Florida you are that there is only three moskitos?

5 hurricanes? can you name them please?

I think something is terribly wrong with your math skills..3 moskitos in the entire state, and hit by 5 huricanes in the last year?!?!? And as far as I remember NONE of last years hurricanes hit south Florida.

I have 3 mosquitoes swimming in my drink when ever I sit out back and set it down.....
Ice where DO you live down here....you ever got to Mills Pond???
we got a killer track there......
