That pic is really old though... but those dogs do have very bad tempers.
 
Considering their main job was to go down holes and kill Wolverines and Badgars I would expect them to be a fierce dog. Most dog bites in the US are from that breed period and everyone thinks it's pits and rots.

I believe that HB is right about that. I can get mine to attack, period. Funny as hell, but he will attack on command. Would rather chase a ball a day long and return return it every time. I've had a couple of German Shepherds and a Doberman, they were doscile compared to a Daschund. Mines is still all wound up at 14 years old.
The part that I really enjoy about my dog is that he still loves me when everyone else does not.
 
That's the great thing about dogs. They just don't care how many people you had to kill that day. They still love you, and think you're the greatest person on earth.
