Humppack only lasts about 5 seconds (and this is the second I've tried!)

Hi guys,
I bought a 1000 - 2000mAh 6v humppack which comes with a charger. I found that after charging for a long time and the servos worked only for 5 secodns or so then they moved intermittently and then stopped.

I have plugged the battery into one side of the switch (which has two cables from it) and then the other side of the switch i have plugged into the reciever, leaving one cable from the switch unplugged. This seemed to work, when the switch is on one side the receiver has a light on, and on the other side the receiver is off.

This has happened with 2 humppacks now... I have charged by plugging the other cable that comes from the humppack into the charger directly. What might I have been doing wrong?

Do you have a multimeter to make sure the batteries are charged? Maybe they arent getting charged.

Id also try rebind the RX to the TX.

I have no multimeter but when I plug it in the light comes on... Plus charging it does give it power for a few seconds. The battery was fine at first.

Id try rebind the TX and RX....if that doesn't help Id look into ways of testing the batteries to make sure they are getting charged and Id look into finding a way to test the RX and make sure its working properly.

How many times has the pack been charged?

Battery is 6v and charger is 7v at 80mA. Charged once or twice over night. Then in the morning it worked just for a few seconds... Should I have charged it for a certain amount of time before first use? I didn't use it much before first charge. Could it be that the charger is faulty and the first battery was not actually at fault?

Also... I have noticed when this has happened that the steering servo will move slightly even if I don't touch the steering

have you tried changing that servo ...i once had a bad servo that would make my failsafe kick in.. telling me i had a low battery...turns out it was the throttle servo that was causing all the problems ..and the battery was fine

I've tried re-binding but that hasn't fixed the problem... I can hear very faint repetitive noises as if the servos are trying to move which suggests it is the battery.. If I could get hold of a multimeter I could check the output of the battery.

If a drained battery just sits for a little while it will respond with a little bit of power. That seems to be what accounts for a few seconds of life.
A possibility is a bad switch. Plug the charger directly into the hump pack, bypassing the switch harness and see if it takes a charge that way.
If not, I'd guess the charger itself is bad or you wouldn't have the same problem with both packs.
