Hpi savage spur gear help

I sent the guy a message to ask how it uses a slipper pad:
I'm not using slipper pad. need not heard. sold in this way.

I know RC Solutions made a bb spur for the t-maxx out of tool steel that didn't use the little slipper pegs. It was just steel on steel (steel washers of the slipper contacting the sides of the spur). So, if you bought this, you may as well try it without the friction pad and just the slipper plate/washer contacting the side of the spur. My guess is you won't have much "slipper" effect, or it will be very on/off without a lot of grey area. That's how the RCS spur was when I had it on my bb max.
