I just bought a savage .21 for my cousin. It says the motor has weak compression. I can't find a piston and sleeve anywhere. But I was just wondering if there was any other motors that would work in there. I seen that hpi has a trade in for a new one for like 60 some bucks but I wasn't sure if it'd work in this model or not? Any help would be great. Thanks

Turns out its a .25 motor. The $60 sum dollar upgrade from hpi is for a 3.0 motor I'm thinking.

Called hpi said would have to be the same motor or 4.6 or 5.9 The 3.0 was a small block. For the same 2.5 motor its 75 for the 4.6 its 150.

I'd go with a 4.6. The 5.9 sucks more fuel for not much more power.

A 4.6 for 150 is decent but you can look at other motors for around the same price and still keep your old 1 for rebuild and backup. I'm a pretty big fan of Dynamites and OS and they both make big blocks for around the same price but you can still keep the old 1 for rebuild. Just my .02

yeah just avoid axial engines. you can search the savage forums for a million recommendations on nitro engines. especially MT big blocks.
