I have a poopy old Kyosho Sandmaster ST, and it's about time to buy a new truck... I bet I could have bought 3 new cars for the $ I spent on poopy parts for it ;)

I'm considering a HPI Nitro MT 2, but I want more speed than the announced 66kph. Is there any easy (and hopefully not too expensive) upgrades that will increase the speed on this thing?

Please feel free to come with other ST suggestions. I'm looking for good handling, preferrably 4-wheel drive and RTR within a price range of $400-450.

I have the Original Nitro MT and it's a great truck. Lots of things that HPI fixed as far as bugs with the MT2. They made quite a few improvements including the new engine. I am almost sure that there is a two speed upgrade available for the truck. Good luck

Cool, how fast do you reckon the truck will be with the 2-speed transmission?

I have the original NMT too but unless you just racing street i would not suggest the 2-speed trans. Just because it is an open Trans case and little pebbles and a dirt can get stuck in the 2-=speed. If your going back and forth betwwen on-road and off-road i suggest you stay away from the 2-speed and go with different gearing or a bigger motor with different gearing.

I just saw one out at a park near by with some friends. It's a real screamer. I like the stuff they redesigned. It even has a gaurd for the gear to keep small stones and twigs out. Doesn't help much if the body is off though. It comes with a single speed and screams for second gear. A two speed upgrade is necessary. I beleive, from what the LHS said, the 2 speed for the original mt will fit. I may be wrong so double check.

ook ya on the origanal on inside the wheel well of the body they had a shield but it still dont help with the body of or in realy stony or sandy places

My current backyard basher is the MT2... I've only had it for about a month.. i have made it a lot lighter with a few aftermarket parts and a lot of tuning... i havent touched the gears or motor yet.... my truck flys... the cops recently put one of those stationarly spedomitor thingys close to my house a little while ago.. you probly kno what I'm talking about.. i went out there .. flew my MT2 by it and it reggistered 45mph... this is a great truck.. it was expensive to get it were ts at but i got it new off ebay for 150 so i saved tons on the purchase so i endulged in a bunch of extras.... i would deffinatly encorage you to ge this truck.. it is amazingly strong... great for beating the hell out of

Has to be the Sirio .15

I last saw it at Hobbypeople.com for $130, but it's a hassle to order from them if you're not in the US :( and Towerhobbies doesn't sell it anymore, the engine has been discontinued.
