hi,what's up, joined here today because i'm having major problems with my hpi mt2.i've been doing this a while but have never stripped out 3 spur gears without actually running it, just idiling trying to do a mid winter tune up. can't seem to set the truck into nuetral, it wants to go go go. feel like i've done everything, factory settings, linkage adj.,slipper clutch adj., carb adj., gear mesh. did nothing with the clutch bell, seems fine. only 2 seasons with this truck. never had these probs with my nitro rustler. PLEASE HELP!!!

Pull the clutchbell off and check your primary clutch. Springs could be broken and or shoes can be broken and causing the engine engage the clutch constantly. A new spring and set of shoes would be the fix.

Sounds like your clutch is shot or your CB bearing is seized. I had the predecessor to the MT2, nitro MT. It ran a caged needle bearing for the CB in a nylon cage. If it got to hot, the whole cage would melt and practically weld the cb to the crankshaft. I'm not sure if the MT2 has the same setup or not. For what that bearing does, it seemed stupid to me to have a bearing like that on the NitroMT.

thanks. the clutchbell spins freely though, gonna order the titanium spur, reset all the linkage by eye with the carb. idk? THANKS GUYS

its a long shot that this is a problem with your mt but have you had any hard crashes lately with it?
i had a slightly bent chassis and it was the toughest thing to diagnose why my spur gears were stripping on my hpi rs4 evo+ i set the mesh i tightened the engine many times over and the result was always about 2 minutes of running the car and a stripped spurgear or barely any teeth on it. for ages i though the engine was moving. but it was actually the angle of attack between the cb gears and the spur gear first it would bevel em slightly then once compromised it would set about eating them apart.
in the end i got a metal ruler against the chassis and there was a 10mm gap at 30mm across the chassis the crash impact was so hard that the chassis bowed in the middle.
once straightened out it worked perfect.

likely not to be your problem but just check it with a metal ruler and see if there is any warpage because if there is. the titanium spur is probably only going to excerbate the problem or bend your crankshaft or break your bearings.
