hello everyone its been a while but i have a little problem :D
my savage .25 with a axial .28 has shredded both differentials WHY????
and does anyone know where i can get a good price on some

Were the diffs in the truck using the four bevel gear setup, or the older two gear setup? Also, were they shimmed? Mine used to eat rear diffs quite quickly before I went to an alloy diff housing and properly shimmed it.

it ate them because you put a .28 in a truck that came with a .25.

the savage diffs are known to be weak. go with alloy cups, and shims as hpiguy said. i think they came out with HD diffs or something

Yea bro I had a savvy 21 that I put the axial .28rr in and not a full tank after break in, it shredded my diffs. Get the alloy diff cups like hpi guy said and get her shimmed and u should be set...good luck

I've read that Hpi has updated and strengthened their diffs. Those, shimmed properly, and alloy cases should solve your problem. A properly adjusted slipper clutch goes along ways to saving driveline parts as well.

your best bet is to go with the CEN differentials. They are bombproof. bada$$savage on savage-central can hook you up. I think they are a little pricey but well worth it. I want to say i paid a little over $100 a diff.

HPI has some new "bulletproof diffs" that aren't as pricey. Looks like they should hold up well but I don't have any yet.

With alloy cups, your real close to what the CEN's are.

The X and XL run the HD diffs with alloy cups:

Can usually snag them for $30 or so on ebay.

That's what I run now in mine, but I also run old school cases that are also alloy (properly shimmed) along with high quality bearings. They have handled all the punishment my LRP has handed them over the past year without a whimper. I'm pretty sure the axial doesn't hold a candle to the LRP for RPM's and torque.
