These ugly @$$ orange barrels with white reflective stripes start popping up all over like unwanted dandelions in the lawn.

For anyone who is fimilar with West Michigan MDOT will be starting work on the 30th for a overhaul of 131 between West River Drive to Ann St. They are also working on some off and on ramps in that stretch. Kind of funny because I know this chunk of highway is crap (I travel it every day) and I'm glad they are getting around to fixing it. However the scheduled completion date isn't until November. 8 months of misery... :(

I also feel sorry for the folks who live around the Detroit area. I've been told some major highway construction is starting to get underway.

dude thats nothing. the main highway that runs through the city where i live was torn up for 6 YEARS while the construction companies sat around with thier thumbs up thier butts. it sat for almost 1 year unfinished and untouched because the courts fined them for not meeting a deadline, and then forbid them to finish the work while they found another contractor to do it.

Yikes! That would suck. One of the nice things about this particular job is when the contractor has to close a lane they have to "rent" it from the state at the tune of $450 an hour!!!
