If you have the XRC Mag, check it out!

I just finished dremel the case and will have some pic up later on.

I want to see your pics when your done. Let us know how it goes compared to the article! I saw and it thought cool but wanted to wait and see if anyone else does it first.

There you go. Not the best quality pictures, if you need more closeup pic let me know. It is still not 100% completed. I will still need to find a fuel bottle cover to cover up the hole on the module.

I'm likin that better than the little stub antenna off the side... If I go spectrum (Kinda like havin 27mhz all to myself), that's what I'd do... Very nice job, looks awesome!

edit; oh, the cap on the squeeze bottle... Napa Auto Parts... It's called a Vacuum cap; not sure what size it is. I buy my exhaust caps from there... Roughly about a buck for a pack of at least 2.

Did it go pretty smooth (per the article) or did you run into anything? Looks good!

Just follow it step by step. One thing that you have to becareful is when using dremel, keep it off the circuit board and you should be fine. Also make sure the antenna wire is at its maximum length before you put the transmitter cover back on.

I didn't get to see the artical but I saw an M8 done already so decided to try the same thing on my Helios. It worked. It was weird doing it w/o instruction, but if I can do it then anyone else should be able to.

I've had my done for about 3months now with no problems . My buddy did his M11 .. said there is alot of cutting to get it in there ...

Hey Q Pod...can you post pics of the spektrum mod on your helios? I have the same radio. How did you get an extension for the antennae? If you can post a writeup that'd be great. Thanks!

I can't get pics up, but its easy to do. You don't need any kind of extension. Pull the mudule apart and disconnect the antenna.
Split the radio in half and remove the small piece where the antenna goes. This needs to be dremeled a bit so the spektrum antenna will fit. It should go in far enough that there is very little protruding into the radio case.
Now using a hobby knife- you will need to cut a place for the antenna wire to go through the right/back side of the module case (as you are seeing it in place as though it were installed.
Now just run the just wire through the large hole already existing in the back part of the radio (where the module plugs in) and reassemble the two case halves.
Plug the antenna back in to the circuit board and route it through the hole you made and put the four screws back in. This can be tricky because there isn't much room to turn it all the way around but it isn't too bad. Plug it in and you are done.
Oh yeah- I filed down the raised section of the module where the antenna used to be so it was flush, and then CA'd a Traxxas shock diaphram (part #1765) over the hole...perfect fit! Now it looks like a factory button.
