I found a very helpful article that covered both Rubber tires and Foams. At least the pro's and con's can be compared. Lots of information here but the basics of "how to choose" will be addressed.

Good post. FWIW, I have no luck with rubber in parking lots. I have a lot of HP and I tend to destroy rubber after only a few tanks. I tried the Duratrax Slicks listed in the rubber article and one of the tires ripped in half while I was running the second Tank. I think a rock got caught in between the body and the tire and it ripped it. The rock sent my car flying and it scratched up my beautiful new Viper body.

I never expected to get such crappy rubber tire life. The rubber tires on my Savage have been in use for over 5 gallons and they are still in great condition. I am also finding it very difficult to get the old tires off the rims. It took me like 45 minutes last night to get one tire off and I did try to boil it. I ended up mauling the rim a bit so I should probably just buy new rims along with new tires. Looks like I need new rubber everytime I run, this could start to get expensive.

When I was picking out a Touring car I picked the RS4-18ss over the R40 because I wanted to run the thing often in parking lots at high speeds. My new found experience with parking lots and rubber tires makes me think that maybe I should have gone with a track only/foam only R40. The parking lot running is going through way too much rubber.

I guess I will find out how long foams will last when we run on Sunday.

You guys are more than welcome. Most of the information in those articles was passed on to me by the guys at the LHS. Not everyone is lucky to have information like this handy when racing for the first time. I just try to pass the things I learned forward.
