First off, consider your budget. If you have an unlimited budget, dont even bother reading on.

-2.2 Class.
Limited to 2.2 inch tires. Also limited to a two wheel steering set up. The wheelbase can't excede 12.5 inches. The overall width can't excede 12.5 inches also. Limited to four wheeled vehicles only.

-Super class
Basicilly unlimeted on the tire choices, the wheelbase is to the moon, and there is no limit on the width. Limited to four wheeled vehicles only. No limits on the steering configuration.

-Unlimited class
Being phased out. I personally dont know much about this class, except that it is the same as the Super Class, except that you arnt limited on the number of wheels.

--------Buying the components--------
Ok, first off the bat, RESEARCH!!! Next, consider what you want. A 2.2 class crawler or a Super Class crawler. I wouldent waste my time building a Unlimited class, because as stated above, they are being phased out.

----HPI Wheelie King----
The HPI Wheelie King.
Where to buy: your local hobby store, HPI's website, or mail order.

HPI has just released there 4x4 version of this truck. This is a shaft driven truck. I would siguest buying this because then you dont need to buy the conversion parts.

You can use a Bender Customs SW2, or make your own chassis. With some creativity, you can adapt a TLT chassis to fit to the WK.

For tires.

You can use ANY 2.2 tires, such as the popular Moabs, and the Masher 2000s.

The upside of the WK is that it comes ready to run. The downside is that is is a newer kit, so it is going to take some time for the vendors to create parts for it.

------Tamiya TLT------
The Tamiya little truck.
Where to buy: Online, your local hobby store, or you can buy parts and assemble the axels that way.

The TLT has been around for quite a while now. It is also a shaft driven truck. It is a less expensive and less beefy version of the WK.

Tires: ANY 2.2 tires. You can NOT run the 40 series tires, or the XLs. The reason for this is that the axels won't hold up to the abuse.

The upside of this kit is that you can have virtually anything for it. The downside is that it is discontinued. It does not come with electronics. It is four wheel steering.

----Tamiya TXT-----
The Tamiya Xtreme Truck.
Where to buy:Online, your Local hobby store, or mail order.

This is the bigger badder more agressive version of the TLT. It has shafts, and is four wheel steering. From the factory, it has a cantiliever setup.

Tires: 40 series, or XLs.

The upside of the TXT is that it is still in production, it has beefy axels, and it is a fun truck.
The downside of this truck is the intial purchase price. For kids like me, it is expensive.

-----Tamiya Super Clodbuster------
The Tamiya "Clod"
Where to buy:Ebay, your local hobby store, and a mail order.

Ahhh yes, the Clod. I love these things. You can make tubers, full frames, and rarely, scalers. This is a twin motored truck. It has no driveshafts. This is a GREAT starter truck because there is a TON of aftermarket support. There are aluminium axels avalable too.

Tires: 2.2s, 40 series, and XLs.

Upside: There are TONS of parts for the clod. You name it, you can get it for a clod. Downside: The axels are weak if you jump it and abuse it too much. An occasional jump is ok. They will break, but its not that big of a deal, because parts are cheap.

-------Kyosho TwinForces and Madforces------
The twins and The madforces.
Where to buy: online.
These are BOMB proof truck. You can push this truck off the edge of the earth and it wont break.

Since these are WIDE trucks, they do not fit the quidelines of the 2.2 class.

Upside:BOMB proof. Downside: sort of hard to get parts for.
-----------
Well, there you have it.

I will add more from time to time.

Feel free to ask questions.
