RC Driving Style
  1. Crawling
I received a HOT RC dr4 TX/RX. Ran across a blurb somewhere (cannot recall where....but that's another issue) so I clicked on the product (never knew it existed) and got interested......you know how this is.
The cons:
Light in your hand (but easy to wrap weights to it so it feels better)
Has the same plastic feel as most TX's I have
No leather grip option
No info screen
No steering wheel (Wait! What?)
No available phone mount
No two way radio
No drink holder I can see
No rechargeable system
No color choice
Does not cost enough

Pros:
Light in your hand
One hand driving
Mixing
All trims and functions are one hand accessible
Weather resistant plastic tx housing
Look seem fine to me, but I usually watch the crawler...
and on and on....
$35.00 with two RX's.
NO, I don't get free stuff (but I am open to that). I am out there crawling in the dirt with little cars and paying for my stuff like everyone else.

And it works quite well. I am amazed how good it works crawling (so far..Extensive test tomorrow). Everything I need to crawl is one hand operation (have not tried one foot driving). And I can steer with right hand and throttle with left but it was not much of an issue to switch to one hand driving at all. AND, I can scratch uh, whatever, with my free hand. Some might want to shoot video with the free hand, or open and consume various liquids, or stoke the fire so to speak, but you get the idea.
I have some nice radios. Futaba TP4M, SanWa MT4 ( AKA Airtronics) and the like, but I can say that I am quite impressed with this inexpensive radio system. It seems to do exactly what I hoped it would and at this price I can say I have wasted much more (you all know how this goes) on products that may not be worth owning so it was not much of a stretch to try this radio. Pleased that I did.
I will follow up on this after the HUGE(ly) BIG CRAWLING TEST TOMORROW.

Alright, we are going to do this. THE FULL ON USER REVIEW of the hot rc dr-4 radio. Due to the length you may want to save as a document and read when you have more time.
Works fine. does exactly what it is supposed to do. Came in a box and on and on. More to follow.....

I WILL get to the part where I ACTUALLY OPERATE THE SYSTEM after I do 6 more videos on the box, artwork, delivery, video of me pushing the "buy now" button, and of course you will want to hear about the long term use report from a guy we ran across whose cousin's brother knew a guy who saw one and was a close friend of.........

Alright, I can do this. Little nervous actually. I don't do product reviews much......
Up front...I misplaced all the files on the unboxing and all the rest and will post them ASAP when I find them.........
It's black plastic like everything else. Feels fine in my hand, med size. My opinion may differ from others but I in no way find the visuals odd. The way it is laid out makes sense to me (ergonomics ). Every item and function worked well during a 2 1/2 hour outing on some serious technical terrain today. All functions are handled by one hand (either hand). I was able to negotiate difficult crawls without much difficulty, but it is different. At the end out the day I was doing much better single hand driving. I kept forgetting to film as my brain was focusing on operating the TX. Takes a minute to bind or.. less if you know what to do. NOW I know. And it has a Cruise Control! No! A real one...touch the red button on the TX and it will hold that speed. touch brake or accelerator and it will move "a notch" in the desired direction. Used it more than I thought I would. And it seems to engage no matter the speed. Using an out runner and if I can see the motor have any movement it will hold accelerator there. As in you need to look to see if its really moving.....

Had ZERO issues with the system. Everything worked well. I WILL get another. $35.00 with 2 RX. 4 channel. Mixing. And I now have full function of one hand....
And...you can do the Michael Jackson Ball Grab thing as you crest a difficult climb cuz u be da man! And keep driving the crawler..........I would never, but, hey! if it's your style you could.....

If you think this system would fit your crawling it is easily worth the investment. Not ready to sell of my other TX's, but I am pleased with this new one.

Got some more time on the WHEELESS radio. Getting used to it more, and getting to the point that I do not have to be thinking about it while crawling. Pleased with it so far. Does what it was supposed to do with no glitches so far. I handed it off to a person I met at a crawling area as he showed an interest. He has larger hands and can one hand a conventional crawler radio, but was amazed with the Hot RC radio. He had no issue what ever adapting.
I highly recommend this radio. Unfortunately...I have no credentials or documented experience in crawling other than crawling friends (4) and so on. So....my opinion is not worth a great deal. On the other hand, the radio was not a great deal of $ either, so........
