I was just wondering if I should spend 50 on the mip stinger kit for my nitro rs4 mini. Does a tuned pipe help out a lot? I just have the cheap exhaust on my car right now and it already rips real fast. I have a tuned pipe on my 4-tec and its annoying to me sometimes. But sometimes I do like the roar.

Back to my original question, do tuned pipes help out a lot? Or do they just make a lot of noise?

What does a tuned pipe give your engine? It gives it smoother air flow and better fuel consumption. This in turn makes the engine perform more efficiently.

Tuned pipes are set up for altering performance characteristics in a specific manner. Some are designed to gain a higher top speed; while others are designed to gain a better low end and squeeze out some more torque. These gains can be rather dramatic if you are moving from a crappy pipe to something with better engineering. Generally speaking, the performance increases are not very noticeable.

Does anyone possible have diagrams/pictures of what tuned pipes look like inside? Possibly something explaining what characteristics do what in a tuned pipe. Like a longer pipe does this...... A bigger diameter does this..... etc...

The inside of the tuned pipe is not the part that makes it a tuned pipe. About the only one with a tune-able interior is the CVEC pipe. The rest of the tuned pipes work off of their shape.

I'll see if I can dig up something that explains the concept at an understandable level.

That is really informative. But it only gives me a bigger problem. After reading that, it makes me not want to buy a tuned pipe. My next problem is now I have to find out how to make my own tuned pipe......:write:
