How long do you guys go before you clean it and reoil it? I am cleaning it every 3-6 tanks. Am I diong it too often because its a hell of a pain to get the air filter in the carb with the spur gear there sooooooo close to it:seeing_stars: . It can be a pain and I think I'm doing it too often.

No my friend, you are not doing it too much. I usually clean and re-oil mine after EVERY run. But that could be over kill. After about a gallon of fuel, its a good idea to replace the filter. I replace my filter after every gallon.

I've had the stock foams for going on 4 galons so far and there fine. I just want to know how often do you CLEAN your air filter. Also I normally run on clean paved roads and grass never sand and occasionally dirt.

well, ok, but you put it as if i did not correctly answer your question...

I clean my in no certain time frame. If it looks dirty, Ill clean it and re-oil it. Are you still running a stock filter? A Motor saver filter would be a good upgrade to get.

I put a fresh filter and prefilter on before every race (usually practice, 3 minute warm-ups, 5-6 minute heats, 3 heats and then the main). Running indoor offroad it stays quite a bit cleaner than outdoors obviously. Running outdoor I may through on a fresh one before the main depending on how long.

I do about the same as 4u2nv. My truck came with a spare set so I swap them around each time, 4 gal on the pair and still going. I'd say unless you notice the foam degrading, you shouldn't have to replace it.

i run an integy high flow air filter and seems good , what do you guys think?

Go with a Motor Saver. Better flow and they include a pre-filter. I usually clean and oil the filter after about every hour of bashing.

Changing out the air filter is a small price to pay to protect the most important and expensive component on your RC.

I swap them out abut every 5 tanks, sooner if the filter looks especially dirty. I keep 3-4 spare oiled foams on hand and when the last one is used, I clean all of them at once with some dish soap and rinse out with water.

Motorsaver makes great filters. I also really like RB filters, they have a screw on endcap that makes changing the foams quick and easy.

If I run on cement only is it ok that I replace the foam element only. That weould be a hell lot easier. My air filter dosen't get dirty it looks the way when I cleaned it. Also the street is clean and not dirty and the housing dosen't get dirty AT ALL.

I'm just wondering if I'll be ok. And didn't olds97_lss have an engine run some un godly amount of gallonsthrew his engine and he said he cleaned the filter every half gallon?
