So I picked up my mini e-revo and it's a blast, however I have some concerns that the Traxxas peak charger which the salesperson recommended has too high a charge rate for the included Traxxas series 1 battery. I know these batteries get warm when charging but mine is getting uncomfortably hot on the charger. Is this charger http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXWVE0&P=ML too much for my battery?

I plan to get a better charger (possibly a dual charger - the duratrax onyx 240) when I get the second battery. But for now I don't want to be ruining this battery until then.

Should I return the charger?

I picked up a DuraTrax ICE locally for $45. So I would look for a deal on something with a bit more features if I were you. The ICE will charge just about anything....

I thought up and down about which truck to get but I totally neglected doing the research on the charger. I'm a silly electric RC newb.

As long as the battery is 4000mah or greater capactity it should be ok. That's rule of thumb though. Personally I don't care for the 1A to 1000mah rule. I charge my 5000mah packs at 3.5A.

Yup same here!

Dude i really wouldn't worry about it, i charge my venom 5000 at 4 amps and it gets really warm but it usually doesn't bother me!

If you are planning on getting another battery then just pick another charger!

I have read that it is best to let the battery cool befor running it and re chargeing . Maby youall may be able to tell us somthing more about it?
