I recently got th 5200kv /w 18a ezrun combo for my vendetta. I soon found out this may be a underpowered combo for it. Anyways i got 2 3s 1500mah batterys. When i programmed the esc i put thermal shutdown on. When i run it after about 10 min it goes into shutdown, but only for 5-10 sec. When i check the motor and esc temps the hottest I've gotten it to is 140, will i be alright with the thermo off? How hot is ok? Also i have a heatsink and fan for the motor. Right now I'm running stock gearing, and id say it goes faster than my pede vxl w/7 cell venom 5000mah. I would say 40 mph

Thermal shutdown is there for a reason, keep it on or you'll smoke the ESC.

3S is too hot for that motor, switch to 2S or keep your runs short in duration or else you'll cook that motor also.

140 is right at the temp threshold for safe running of your motor.

i don't like to see any of my electrics over 120. i like it to run warm and thats about it.

my stampede vxl runs in the 140s all the time with a 7cell and stock gearing... is that bad?

mYou might have it geared to hi, usually with brushless set ups you gear down fron stock brushed set ups, you might try going down a couple teeth on your pinion gear and see how it runs there, it will be a little slower but it will also put less of load on all of you elctronics which will keep them running cooler, or just keep your runs short like SD said.
